Overall experience was a 4. There were some areas that were not so great, but other areas were amazing. Campsite: Overnight camping does not seem to be their top priority. The sites were small and not well kempt. The sites that look like a standard pull through are actually back in for 2 campers. Making for short and narrow sites. The water is also far from some of the sites. We had to put a hose extension on to make it reach, which we have never had to do before. Bath house: They were clean and provided privacy and space. However, they were very hot and smelled a bit of sewer. The shower water was hot. The bathhouse nearer the pool, pond, and activities was nicer. Activities: This is where they shine. The swimming pond is amazing. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was present to maintain the rules. There was plenty of seating, and the beach area was great. The pool was also very clean and well maintained. There wasn't anything extra at the pool, but it was nice for a cool dip and relaxation. The putt putt was a little run down, but the kids liked it. The only issue was the lack of balls. One day, there were about 6 total, and the next, it was down to three. Shuffle board, horseshoes, a park, and an inflatable jump pillow were also available. They had planned activities for the kids, including a nice hay ride. There was also a band and food truck on Saturday. Staff: They were nice enough. I didn't feel like they cared too much about customer service, mostly just getting the job done. Fishing pond: See the pictures Major issue: There is a major lack of lighting. The path to the bathhouse from overnight camping sites is not lite. It was very dark at night, and the sidewalk is not even at all. Also, there is no lighting in the park at night, making it almost impossible to use after dark.
It's expensive, but there are so many amenities that it's almost worth the cost. We have a permanent spot and love going here whenever the weather is nice enough to visit. The pond is really neat with the inflatables, but it isn't always open in accordance with hours posted. The pool is the perfect place to relax and cool down. They recently added more chairs, which was very helpful. They also added a shaded area for younger kids or anyone now wanting to sit in the sun, so that's convenient. They playground is pretty cool. They have a bunch of different things for kids of all ages. The bathrooms are decent. They could definitely use an upgrade, but it's in a great location for when you're at the pond or pool and don't want to go back to your camper. It is a dog friendly place with a little dog park, but the fence is pretty low, so if you have a jumper like our dog you may want to keep your pet on a leash. People are friendly and the staff is helpful! I absolutely love it here, but wish the price wasn't so high because we may not be able to afford staying another season. Playground: So many things for kids of all ages to do! Restrooms: Clean, but could use an upgrade. Dog-friendliness: It is a very dog friendly place, just make sure you have your vet paperwork and your pet is up to date on all its shots!
Great amenities, very nice staff. My only complaint is they Jam pack everybody in my awning almost touches my neighbors. Unless you're going with a group and you can have your awnings facing each other it is an extremely small campsite unless you're a permanent resident and then you get a really nice campsite. The pond is great, the pool is awesome the store is nice and they have a nice playground for The kids.
I got to say I rarely take the time to review. We came during the summer and now have stayed here during the fall. I suggest the state park during the fall. There is nothing more to do. You will pay more money at this campground with no additional benefit. The honking and playing loud music from golf carts is 100 percent correct. The worst part is good luck complaining the biggest problem is from people that are employed by the campground. The state park butts up to this campground I imagine it is significantly cheaper. I gave this campground two opportunities, but they make it next to impossible to enjoy the amenities. They lock everything up and you must call them to unlock during very specific hours. If you come during the weekday in the summer the pond is open I think 11-5 and you must call to have them unlock it for access. It just is not a laid back camping experience. I don't know If this is an adventurebound rule or specific to this campground. A lot of seasonal campers are nice and very welcoming. Talking to some of them it sounds as though this company has really gone into "money grab" mode and it is very obvious when you are staying here. As far as fall, go to a state park or koa there will be just as many amenities. Also EVERYBODYu drives around in golf carts and parks and talks in their golf carts, very clicky. Just not worth the money at all. I feel bad for seasonal campers here, someone said the price is like 4 grand... for this... my gosh... You can find way better prices... but I will say there is a train museum one exit south and it is so much fun!!! But you can go there and stay at the state park. So not really a positive for the campground. If anyone at corporate is reading please consider taking a good look at policies of this campground it turns me off to your brand, not just this campground specifically. I have no interest in parking a thing with wheels for years... but to each their own. I certainly wouldn't park it here... positives: restrooms are clean. Dog friendliness for sure! The pool was very nice. Playground area is fun! There are soooo many employees, no wonder they have to charge so much... just doesn't seem like there is a smart business plan. But I don't own the company so whatever...
We camped here a few years ago and had an unpleasant experience but figured we’d give it another shot. Day one we arrive and the site is extremely small. We maybe had 8 feet of space to move around. Fortunately we booked with another group so that helped. Our fire rings were both located either right next to our camper or under our awnings. When we requested another fire ring, the office personnel were unpleasant. Then the permanent campers started driving around at 10pm blaring music and honking air horns keeping our small children awake. Some even attempted to engage in an alteration with us about the loudness and I almost had to contact the authorities. You share water and electric hook ups and we barely had ANY water pressure to shower. While at the pool one day, our breaker popped and when we arrived back, our camper was of course it was 80 degrees in there with our poor dogs just baking. People drive recklessly through the campground at all times making it difficult to walk around. A poor girl almost drowned at the pond and the “staff” onsite to ensure people are following the rules just watched as other campers rushed to help her. I could go on but what I will say, the cost is astronomical. The environment is not welcoming and I will never return or recommend to anyone to book.
Lots of things to do for kids but the honking golf carts from 10-11 pm were the biggest turn off for a campground where you are supposed to be able to relax around a campfire. Also our campsite had 5 feet of grass area and the fire ring we were supposed to use was 3 feet from our steps and under our awning. Too jam packed. We will not be returning. Go to Huggy Bear.
I would NOT recommend camping here. They lock the gates to the trampoline, the pool and pond by 5:00pm sometimes sooner then you have to find someone to unlock the gates just so you can use them. There is NO Wi-Fi available at this campgrounds. They charge to rent the golf carts based on how many they have available which is ridiculous. They close everything if there is lightning within a 30 mile radius, 30 miles! The worst camping experience I’ve ever had!
This barely fell short of 5 stars.. I often think the money the these places bring in could def always have more money put back into them. Bathrooms were decent. Having laundry is a big plus. Seems like most long term campers take up all the good spots which is disappointing. That being said I would try it again when it’s warmer out to check out all the amenities, seems like lots to do when the weather is better! Has potential to be really fun here!
Came for the day to hang out with family who has an rv at this place, the few of us who came to visit were all charged differently and I'm very confused on how that happened,I definitely will not bring family back. Each adult was $10-$20 dollars some where charged 5 per kid and us 10 per kid. It's a rip off and there's no organization, people and kids just rip an run and no one pays attention to where their walking or what their doing. I'd give no stars if I could.
Ahh, my first time to Van Burens Adventure bound camping...it rained. Oh, well. That's part of camping. All I can say is this place is more for seasonal "family" campers. Almost all have decks and golf carts. Lot's of kids and golf carts. I actually found the golf carts to be annoying and I own one myself. If your looking for a quiet weekend get-away with your spouce, signiificant other, partner whatever you want to call them, this is not the place. This IS a family campground. Period.
