About

The North Shore's premier entertainment venue for plays, music, dance, comedy, and film.

Description

The Skokie Theatre is a landmark building in downtown Skokie, IL. Built in 1912, this former movie theatre underwent a $1.2 mil renovation in 2008 to turn it into one of the finest performing centers and concert halls in the north shore suburbs.

Since February 1, 2014, the building has been managed by MadKap Productions and hosts many different performances, from plays and concerts, to comedy and film.

The theatre has comfortable seating for 140 with plenty of convenient free parking nearby. It is easily accessable via the Edens Expressway and the CTA yellow line, and can be reached by multiple Pace bus routes.

Positive energy vibe with warm and welcoming service. The adaptation of Tennessee Williams' Cat has been the highlight of the season. Keep the art alive!
We went to see Avenue Q, which was well done and had fun music. The cast did a great job, even with liberties taken with wardrobe. The woman who greeted us upon entry, left a lot to be desired. She was rude and almost ruined an otherwise lovely evening. Social skills matter, and she could use a lesson in appropriately asking people to put their masks on when entering. Not our fault that the signs on the doors said masks were optional, and that she decided to change the rules.
A very charming theatre in downtown Skokie with an eye catching marquee. Upon entry under the marquee you step into a small but lovely lobby with a front desk and a concession space offering a variety of snacks and a small.selection of alcoholic beer.and wine and non-alcoholic beverages. The auditorium is larger than expected, bright, comfortable and beautifully well kept. The staff, actors and productions are friendly and professional. I definitely recommend this theatre and will return in the future.
The Skokie theater is a wonderful, local venue featuring local area Talent, Live Music, and Live Theater Productions. We really appreciate how the Skokie theater highlights and focuses on locally produced and locally created theater Productions. The staff were wonderful, and it was easy to purchase our tickets from their website. Easy to park in the parking lot right next door to the theater venue and the seats were comfortable and easy to access. I give the Skokie theater 5 stars!
I have very mixed feelings about seeing Avenue Q here. The performers and musicians were all top notch but everything else about the show was incredibly amateurish. The stage was on par with an average community theater and the technical aspects were poorly executed. There wasn't a single scene that didn't have at least one missed sound or lighting cue.
Skokie Theatre is a jewel in the suburbs. We just attended the fundraiser for the Ukrainian children, where Hillary Feldman gave an outstanding performance, together with her talented pianist, Beckie Menzie. What a special performance! Thank you, Skokie Theatre.
We visited the theater for the play called "doubt" we had such a great time, the performance was outstanding, and make us want to come back again for another play! All actors were so natural and believable that got us really immersed in the story. Also the staff was great, they took all the cautions, they made feel the audience safe and welcomed. The venue was clean and easy to navigate, I can say that this is the time to go back to the venues without risk and enjoy great shows like this.
I have seen this production numerous times and this one in particular was ok. The theater is quaint and darling and the actors/actress playing Gary Coleman, Nicky/Bad idea Bear/Trekkie and Princeton/Rob did a fantastic job. Very pleasant to watch. Just a bit bummed that the song sung by Christmas Eve was changed lyrically. The name of the song is “The more you “Rov” someone”. She sang it actually saying the word Love and over annunciating it. That completely took the humor out of song and character. It is written that way for a reason, Not sure why that direction was chosen. Otherwise it was a cute production.
We saw Roxy Bellows. We love her. She involves the audience which may not be everyone's taste but we enjoy it. The establishment is handicapped accessible. I would go as far as to say more than accessible. They go far to make it comfortable. They required masks and vaccination cards which I personally approve of but not everyone will. A group called the Saints provided ushering services. They were also friendly and helpful. .
Loved the show, tiny theater either dedicated cast and crew
