Wow!! First time visit, but definitely not the last. Cozy and laid-back atmosphere, with a very friendly staff. Perfect for families, individuals like me, and definitely perfect for dinner after a day at the beach. Lobster bisque like none other that I won’t stop thinking about until the next time I have it. Delicious, fresh local oysters offerings rotate to different ones each week. A wealth of choices of specials, fresh fish, and my new favorite, Neptune’s Nest: scallops, clams, mussels, shrimp and a whole lobster tail, served in a garlic cream sauce, inside a delicious bread bowl. Saw some nice varieties of pie go by, but hard to leave room for dessert with the generous portions. I shall return, soon!!
I have been trying to find a real local seafood restaurant in New Jersey shore, and I definitely think this is the one. The food is excellent, the taste of the Fresh fish was amazing. My wife got the Neptune basket, and I can describe how good it was. We wasn't impressed with the sides coleslaw, mashed potato, and spaghetti but definitely the main plate was really good. Don't forget to bring your own wine and remember to try one of the home made pies.
Seems like a popular local place. It was very busy when we went and certainly they have a lot of fresh seafood. A few bar seats too for singles and couples. Server was meh, but hostess and busser very sweet. Mussels were fantastic. Steamed clams and chowder were good. I've had better New England chowder even in Florida, but no real complaints. My complaint is the lobster roll. I thought it would be Maine style but it was served plain in a Sabrett style hot dog bun with hot butter on the side I guess this is called Connecticut style?. It was also on the menu for $15 but they charged me $21; perhaps I saw a lunch price even though it was dinner time? It was served with very mediocre potato salad and cold slaw, both of which I've had much better versions of. It was very disappointing and a waste of money. I don't recommend it at all. Maybe the server could have asked what style I want or at least tell me what was coming??? But she seemed completely uninterested in customer service. Not sure I'll be back after that experience. Overall this place is a bit pricey for the amount of product they are moving, but a busy seafood place pulling in tourists is expected to be I guess... Don't expect any deals here.
Had great dinner at the restaurant then ordered linguini with clams, lobster, scallops to go and you see the result. Since they can't use plastic the sauce poured out all over inside the bag all over the seat of my car then when I picked up the bag 40.00 food went on the pavement. Be aware of this please. Bring you own plastic bag to wrap. A complete waste of money and the kids got no food. The blackened scallops flounder and cod was overly spicy. Mine was not blackened and good. 2 stars only because of the waste of food and interior of my car. We eat here a lot. Will comeback but with plastic for takeout
So I was looking for the best lobster roll in the area. This definitely was not it. The lobster salad was very bland and had no taste the roll appeared to be a basic hot dog bun. And to make matters worse they placed the lobster roll in a tray of wet potato salad and cole slaw. It was so soggy and wet I couldn't even pick it up without it falling apart. The potato salad was bland and tasted like overcooked potatoes and mayonnaise. The coleslaw was also very bland and tasteless. The crabcake was not good at all. I will say the staff was very friendly when I went to pick up my order. Things to note the place is very small with not very much room to move around. Definitely not accessible unless you eat outside. The bathroom is so small and is tucked in a corner right next to the bar. At the time I used it needed to be cleaned. Overall this was a disappointing experience.
Our first time eating here we had their delicious soups: New England clam chowder and seafood chowder Crab cakes, scallops and Grouper were our main courses and we were not disappointed. We received generous portions of seafood and tasty seafood dishes at reasonable prices. I highly recommend this restaurant. Point Pleasant, NJ
Great seafood spot! They have my all time favorite clam chowder 10/10 recommend and I stop anytime I’m done here!!!Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
What a GREAT experience! My husband and I were looking for a place near the shore with delicious oysters, friendly staff, and a lobster roll to remember. Spikes didn’t disappoint! We had a wonderful time sitting outside. We will definitely be back. Everything was so fresh and fast!
Fresh seafood- clams season. Not too salty as I can finish them without breadsticks. Chowder tastes better than bisque. Crab cakes all crab meats better than stuffed crab
After just moving to the area, my wife and I was eager to get fresh seafood. It was late at night and alot of places was closed. Luckily we had found this place! When you get out of your car here you can smell the fresh seafood coming from the boats near and it gets your brain ready for fresh seafood! I had got a Shrimp stuffed baked potato and we both got lobster rolls. The quality of the food here was just amazing. The service was very friendly and helpful for us first timers! I would highly recommend this place to anyone
