St. Lawrence Valley Animal Hospital

Our experience here was truly above and beyond. I didn’t have an appointment and I haven’t taken her there before. They were so caring and understanding with us. I was so worried they would turn us away. We are grateful to everyone that helped us today.

I’ve been going to St Lawrence for many years. Today I had such a horrible experience. I feel sick and bullied. Another vet clinic had done some dental work on my elderly cat. Everything looked good, but they were missing something in his jaw possibly, because he was pawing at his mouth still. They had suggested that I try and get an X-ray somewhere else, since they don’t have the equipment. What a mistake to ask St Lawrence. They called me back with an estimate of $1500-1900 for blood work, X-rays and dental. I asked if it was ok if I get an estimate for an X-ray only and the technician called me back with a $600 quote. I told her I needed a moment and would call her back. Then I got a call from someone else I won’t say the name on here. She was so rude to me. I wasn’t expecting it. She told me, “Yeah, we’re not doing just the X-ray. We will do all of it with dental and blood work or none of it.” When I reluctantly asked why, she fumbled her words and lied to me about testing for different things, interpretations and that the blood work needed to be done immediately. I did not call her out on it. When she pressed me more, I told her that I couldn’t afford their blood work because the other clinic tests for the same things for a couple hundred dollars less big mistake she laughed cruelly and said “I’M NOT DISCUSSING COST WITH YOU.” I didn’t expect her to. I was just answering her question. They have the right to charge what they want or refuse a job, especially if another vet is involved. I just feel different about the care they provide to pets now. I wish I had not called them today. I’m already stressed out about my poor old cat. On a positive note, Dr. Tomlinson is fantastic! I will continue to see her when I can at the Cat Clinic. I just wish that the clinic as a whole would be more considerate and kind to poorer people. UPDATE: I just received a letter from them three days before Christmas saying that I need to go elsewhere for vet services and not to communicate with them directly. YIKES. I didn’t argue with them and was very pleasant with them on the phone, so I have to assume it’s from the negative review. On the plus side, I got a quote from another Ontario vet to do the X-ray, bloodwork and exam for just over $400. As terrible as I feel to get that letter, it was the push I needed to get out.

They did have the book I wanted. However, they would prefer if you looked up the book you want before coming to the store so you would know if it's there or not.

I am not very good at writing reviews but I make sure to when it is warranted. The service I received in an emergency situation was beyond amazing and I am beyond thankful to the vet and other staff at SVAH! My kitten had been crushed by a heavy gate at home and she required immediate help. Other vets told me to drive to Ottawa but Kelsey and Dr.El Korchi both recognized that this was a life or death matter. My kitten…now named Kelsey… is alive and well after 4 days of treatments and mostly - love and caring by the Dr. And techs. Im forever grateful and I would trust them with all my cats/kittens. I have already been going there for years but this was just amazing.

They deserve 5 out of 5. Every time I am there or even just phone them they are just excellent. Great direction from Dr. SARGENT and his office Manager: Cheryl Vandal. Their entire staff is most helpful. Excellent top marks been with them for many years !!!!

Thanks to Dr. El-Korchi and tech Krystin for taking such great care of Bailey during her teeth extractions. I was so worried about sedation because of her age but she came out amazingly well and pain free. Also, Thanks again to Dr. El- Korchi for honouring the quote.

Truly excellent clinic. My cat had a dental cleaning and tooth extractions performed here, and despite the fact that he has medical issues that could put him at risk asthma, he experienced no complications and healed quickly. The hospital did thorough testing/x-rays beforehand to ensure he would be safe, and the cost was very reasonable considering everything my cat required. So glad my vet recommended this clinic! I would not want to go anywhere else for dental care after my positive experience.

Best veterinarians around! Won’t go anywhere else! They saved 2 of my dogs.
