A Choupana is a Portuguese Restaurant that has opened in the heart of Rietvlei Zoo Farm in Alberton.

The new owners, Fernando Coimbra, Johnny Jardim as well as Paula Jardim have joined together to bring you a restaurant where family and friends can sit and enjoy a delicious Portuguese Meal!

A Choupana has new trading hours and is open for breakfast, lunch as well as dinner. We have a brand new menu and offer tasty traditional Portuguese Specials over the weekend!

I visited the restaurant on Sunday for the first time, with a couple of friends. Totally disappointed with the service, food and seating. We sat outside under the trees, just a pity most of it is sand, not very much grass left. The plastic tables and chairs are not clean and looks overdue for new ones. The waiter was very slow and did not show much interest in serving our table. We had to ask every time to clear the empty cans and glasses from the table with much effort it was done. When you ordered a drink, it took about 15 minutes before you get it. The food was cold when served. Again we had to ask after 15 minutes that the plates are cleared and many flies arriving. There are no toilets available in the restaurant, you must use the Rietvlei public toilets which are a disgrace if you take how many visitors they get daily that an upgrade cannot be done, the facilities is terrible. Definitely not recommended by me.
I've been to this restaurant before and have always had good service and good food. The food is well priced and we'll served. Authentic Portuguese food it is not but a fusion of tastes based on Portuguese. Will not hesitate to recommend for a relaxed friendly and safe experience.
