Reviews
What a wonderful and tranquil place to be. We flew in privately to the Barefoot Addo Elephant Lodge and we were greeted by friendly Staff, joined by some Giraffes, Zebras and Elephants. A quick ride to the main lodge and breakfast was waiting for us. Friendly staff carried our bags to the rooms luxurious private tents with King Beds, own whirlpools and amazing views The game drive in the afternoon was very informative and the ranger was very knowledgeable about indigenous plants, trees, birds and wildlife. Midway through the drive we stopped at a viewing platform for a picnic. In the morning we had the Elephant encounter and walked along the giants to a feeding place. All in all, we had a very pleasant weekend and we will definitely be visiting again in the future.
It was a nice and quiet stay for two nights, end of may. So be prepared it gets really cold here. We had 1°C at night and the accomodations are basically a tent glamping. A life saver was the heating blankets in the bed, because the fire place was not so easy to use if you are not already used to one. The staff was really friendly, but sometimes the common room seemed to empty when there was no one at the reception. Also outside there are a lot of spiders, but they do nothing. It would be nice if the place would update the gaming / boardgame cupboard. We did one game Drive / Safari drive, and it was nice. If we compare it with another one we did, this one was ok. We got some interesting Infos about the animals and our driver was friendly. But we had better ones before. They have 3 rescued elefants, like 6 or 7 giraffes, Gnus, Zebras, and different Antilopes. Also a leopard but you will not see the cat because it's so bushy and this leopard is really shy. Basically always hidden. The food was ok. They tried to manage that I'm vegetarian. But maybe the lodge is a 4 star place, the food is not. My partner was more satisfied with the meals but also not overwhelmed. We came with a really small car and died a couple of times on the way to barefoot and also when we left the place to the other side. The road is really better for a four-wheel-drive, or at least a bigger car than a Suzuki Swift... :D there are so many roadholes and sharp stones, we really worried about a flat tyre.just as a info, has nothing to do with rating of the place. I would give the Barefoot Lodge a rating of 4,5 stars on Google.
It was a beautiful experience. The rooms are cozy and a stay there is absolutely highly recomandable. We really enjoyed our time at this definitely memorable place. The extra trips they offer are really amazing. I‘m sure that wasn‘t the last visit there. Thanks to the whole Team!
Yes, the road to the lodge is a bit challenging and do not expect haute cuisine. The people are very friendly, the view fantastic and the experience once in a life time. We also had great weather and the tent has everything you need. I could stay here and relax for ever.Rooms: 4/5
The views and interaction with nature is absolutely beautiful! The rooms are lovely and the staff are the friendliest and most helpful. We will definitely be back and recommend to anyone who wants to get away!
The stay was absolutely amazing, very luxurios, very helpful and wildlife excursion was just the best, thank you so much to all staff and management, so accomodating and helpfull... would highly recommend staying there, will definitely book my next visit with barefoot addo!!!
Absolutely rubbish I would never come back they gave my pregnant wife food poisoning Absolutely filled us full of fake promises and over charged us. We paid for a 6 hour excursion we were given a 2 hour the concierge was rubbish and we never saw them. Personally think you should stay as far away as possible unless you like the tiger King. You'll be very lucky to see anything other than the contents of your stomach if your eating there and as for Tracy exotic the manager Absolutely useless no animals poisonous food and rubbish hosts will never be coming back and suggest everyone else gives it a miss too
The road leading to the lodge is about 25km of gravel road From N10 left onto the gravel. It can be driven with your normal car but just be careful and hang in there it will be worth the bumps and slow speeds You are welcomed at the reception and taken to your room. My experience with this was bad because I think the lady guiding us was not 100% sure of things. Our room was okay it’s clean. we had a fire place, private jacuzzi which was not working. I personally would say the room needs an upgrade. After we have settled in we went down for some drink and man ! We were welcomed by Tracy and we immediately felt at home. She made me a great cocktail which you need to try when you stay there ! . Their food is definitely one for the books ! I loved it. Also, thank you very much Angela for taking our photos and providing such an amazing service We went to meet the elephants and the tour guides had so much knowledge. This was really amazing to see The game drive OMW amazing experience with so much history. Thank you very much Mavusi you were so much fun and gosh how do you know all the details about the animals, plants and grass !? The only reason I couldn’t give the lodge a 5/5 is due to the rooms that needs some upgrades Overall I’ll definitely recommend the lodge and you will see me again !
Myself and hubby had an absolute sublime stay at Barefoot. We enjoyed the privacy of our room with such a nice fireplace and deck with jacuzzi with a gorgeous view. All the staff is very friendly and always helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed those hearty meals at the lodge. The elephant encounter was most definitely a highlight. Overall we had a lovely stay and will definitely be back. Thanks to all of you for making our stay so memorable.
We have felt so welcome and looked after at this fantastic destination! The rooms have been beautifully designed to provide a most cozy and tranquil space to relax in nature. A delicious, warm and friendly dining experience was had with a good wine selection. Apart from viewing wildlife from the lodge, the game drive and elephant walk is a must! Thank you so much for going out of your way to accommodate us at every turn with our transport issues. We are extremely grateful to all at Barefoot Addo for making our stay most enjoyable! We will see you again soon!
