There is some renovations going on around the museum area and the sign of the gate said staff only so it was a bit confusing. Fortunately a security guard gave us guidance. There is parking very close to the museum plus a few restaurants The museum cost was r30 pp . It's a small museum with some maritime history of South Africa as well as replica ship which is no doubt the main attraction. You allowed to board the wooden ship There are also a few other attractions on the grounds, post office tree and boot , old cottages, fountain and some nice views of the beach It's something worth doing if you in the area
I am from P.E It was wonderful to explore and get to be on the replica ship. The lady at the front desk very friendly as well as the lady at the lil shop were I got to buy a few items.Visited onWeekdayWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNo
Very nice and informative museum and gallery. The replica ship looked good and you can get on board and imagine how the sailors travelled all the way there. Recommended.
I loved looking at the history and the ship itself. You are allowed to get on the ship and go below deck which is really cool. Sadly there was two small boys running around and jumping on the beds which is specifically asked not to do. This is not only bothersome but could lead to some damage. Some rules might be needed for supervision. I would definitely recommend, it is quite informative!
A good portrayal of historical facts ... not many 'museum' displays .... unfortunately the few glass case displays are in one's own shadow. Due to the lighting issues one had difficulty viewing and reading the information in the glass display cases.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
One needs to appreciate the effort in creating this institution with building a boat into a exhibitionVisited onWeekendWait time30–60 minReservation recommendedNo
It's OK and the replica ship was awesome, but beyond that not much to do unless you are a hard core historian with lots of time to read.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
They busy revamp the whole museum. So you can really enjoy the whole story
