Visited the museum and bought tickets for the power van experience, and I highly recommend both. The museum itself is well looked after and well preserved. It's clear that a massive amount of effort and passion went into the display. The power van is a very unique experience that takes you into the Outeniqua Mountains with breath taking views.
We were overwhelmed by the precious display of trains and all sorts of historical transport media. The curators of this unique museum can't be thanked and praised enough for their dedication to preserve this variety of brilliant engineering. I respect and hail you. A must see for everyone in my opinion.
An incredible collection of train history and machinery of a time gone by. The level of preservation is impressive and the sheer size of the locomotives stunning. On top of this the museum is very clean, neat and tidy. It was an absolute joy to explore itVisited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo

What a lovely trip down memory lane. It reminded me of many train trips I had the privilege to take with my parents from JHB to the coast. The old world charm of sleeping on the train and having meals in the dining room carriage! All the old trains and locomotives and items from many trains and locomotives from yesteryear! Wonderful to see the preservation of these pieces of our history!
I just love this place. Been there twice and everytime it is a treat. If you are into old trains, steam locomotives, vintage cars ...this is a must. Entrance was free... I just miss the train diner that used to be there. You can take a ride up the mountain...but make sure its not a misty or cloudy day.
Absolutely must do and see in George. Brilliant displays and the most beautiful vintage car collection. Trains galore and a big chunk of AR history well preserved.Visited onWeekdayReservation recommendedNo
Amazing collection of old cars and trains. Well maintained and good to see. Visited during a trip on the Outeniqua Power Van. Sadly lost my beanie soon after arriving. Retraced my steps and it had already vanished. Sadly so as there was hardly anyone else around.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
