We rented a 4x4 budget classic with 2 rooftop tents for our two week trip to Namibia. The communication during the booking process and during our trip was outstanding and the customer service was excellent. There were some minor issues with the vehicle and tent due to its age but it in no way detracted from our overall experience. We will definitely be using them for our next Namibia trip!
It was an awesome experience to rent a fully equipped Hillux from Berg4x4. After looking around for a vehicle, the company seemed to be the most authentic and affordable partner. They didn’t charge us any additional driver or border crossing fees, and the sales agent adapted the quotation according to our individual wishes. The car was well maintained and in excellent condition. During the journey, we didn’t have any issues with the vehicle. Anyway, we were able to communicate with Berg4x4 during the trip via a WhatsApp group, which included the manager and the mechanics team. Overall, we felt very well looked after. Because it was such a great adventure, we decided to book another vehicle for our next trip. Whoever is thinking about renting out a vehicle, we can recommend Berg4x4 a lot! Mara&Marc
We had a great time travelling in Southern Africa. The car took us through Botswana, Namibia and South Africa for more than a month. We had a couple of minor issues, but the Berg team responded quickly and was very helpful.
Very well organised and easy system to book and enjoy your camping experience. Run by a very knowledgeable and friendly crew at Berg 4x4. Had a blast camping in Rawsonville area.
A little saddened by our experience. First the good news: the two vehicles we hired were well equipped, the engines were reliable, and the price was right. Andreas was lovely on pickup. The bad news: --When we picked up our two vehicles a few of the tyres looked a little deflated. We drove them 30 minutes on tarmac to our first stop, then woke up the next morning to see both vehicles had flat tyres. --Ultimately our vehicle ended up having issues with all four tyres, three of which were pre-existing valve problems. We had to fix all of these ourselves. Our friends asked Berg to help, they did so begrudgingly - the guy who came to help was quite unpleasant. --We were given a vehicle with a half full tank heads-up: the fuel gauge only fell below 'Full' after ~600km of driving. To Berg's credit they refunded us 40L, though they didn't admit to fault. --Once we returned the vehicle we didn't receive our deposit refund within 30 days as outlined in the T&Cs. They only paid when we chased it up. --Be warned: In the T&Cs of our quote there was a section that said "Should all of the following be in order, the security deposit will be refunded in full". One of the items listed was a compulsory R1200 'full valet' fee. This compulsory charge means you'll never get your full security deposit back. Found it a little deceptive. No idea why it wasn't included on the main section of the quote. None of these issues was a dealbreaker in and of itself, but the combination of all of them just left a sour taste in the mouth. But Namibia as a country was stunning, and I am thankful that the vehicles were mechanically sound, as you need to do a hell of a lot of driving!
Loved the freedom that the vehicle provided for an awesome experience
we rented a Hilux 4x4 with automatic gear box. 2 tents on the roof for 4 persons , very confortable even for our age 60 to 70 . We drove 10500km in 44 days, crossed 5 countries RSA, NAB, BOTW, ZIMB, SWAZ and got only 1 puncture and absolutely no other worries . The car was reliable, with low gas consumption 10l/100km . Fully furnished Camping equipment of good quality. The seats are confortable, and easy driving car that our wifes enjoyed driving on tared and gravel roads . Service from Berg was perfect : booking hotel at arrival and departure, pick at the hotel for car collect and return and "training" for using the car and camping material. For the all trip we could exchange via Whatsapp and response was quick we used only to give our position and send few pictures. Very important too, Berg is among the few company that rent car for crossing some many borders and for a VERY DECENT PRICE. Finally our caution deposit was refunded quickly , as we had no accident or fines We recommend Berg4x4
