What used to be the best Indian dining experience in Cape Town is now unrecognizable and terribly disappointing. My family and I decided to go for an early Sunday dinner. The restaurant was quiet with no more than 3 tables. The service was awful with the staff being abrasive and rude and when questioned about certain items on the menu, our waitress would answer in a condescending manner. She did not make eye contact and would spend as little time as possible at the table. The atmosphere was tense at best with the staff arguing loudly across the room. Our family was intending on staying for dinner, but due to the nature of the restaurant, we decided to only get the starters we ordered and leave as quickly as possible. The items on the menu are more on the expensive side, however the presentation of the food is poor and what one would expect from a canteen. We will not be going back.
The butter chicken is amazing, I've had it time and time again. Fast and efficient service as well. The inside is very clean and spacious too.
It is slightly more expensive than the average Indian restaurant but it is 100% worth it. Very cool atmosphere with an open kitchen, very entertaining watching the chef making the naan bread definitely one of the best naan we’ve had in Cape Town. Can’t wait to go back again!
The best butter chicken ever. And my first experience with a cheese garlic naan which was heavenly. Staff are super friendly and efficient.
Great food.... always! However I would say their prices have increased substantially over the years and I can't justify paying R185 for a curry. The portion size is regular... so not so much value for money quantity wise but still one of the better Indian places taste wise. Service is a bit inattentive and you have to really make an effort to get your waiters attention. But definitely one of the top 5 indian food spots in cape town.
We had a lunch and celebrated a friend's birthday at the restaurant. Firstly, the restaurant is very basic and lacks ambience. The staff seem to be trying their best to keep up appearances, but sorely lack the talent. The food, very basic, no garnishing or extras that you would normally find in an authentic Indian restaurant. I wouldn't visit here again in a hurry. Poor value for money.
One of the best Indian restaurants. 9 of us from New York went to cape town to play cricket and have fun . I usually love to try different restaurants at a new place but Bihari’s food so amazing that we end up eating at least 4/5 times in 10 days . Difficult to find this kind of food in NY as well
Hard to rate. The food could have been excellent, but it was overwhelmed by the environment. It is located in a hotel, and is in some ways typical of that. The tables are covered in plastic sheets, the decor run down and dates back decades, the staff uninterested in the guests to the point of vacuuming the floor while some guests are still eating
Tasty food and generous portions. The restaurant is spacious and relatively quiet. The Reshami kebab is a good option if you want a flavourful but not spicy tandoor chicken. The biryanis are also good. The lamb mince samoosas and naan bread are excellent.
Excellent curries served with rice. Choose mild, moderate, strong or severe spiciness. A naan or roti adds interest and can be shared. Try a mango lassi with the meal. It tastes like yoghurt and neutralises the spiceness. Parking: Free parking at the Hotel.
