Loved every dish. Best BEST best hummus!! Such a great team serving us - explaining and suggestions. The main meal served with flair - wow kebabs, chicken really juicy and flavorful. The the baklava- wow worth ordering30min to prepare piping hot saffron syrup poured over at the table. Going back WITH friends, can’t wait to share this gem!!
Food was amazing. Ordered the beef skewers medium rare and got more than I bargained for. The meat was beyond what I expected and the side dips 3 dips were all complentary to the dish. The prices are MORE than reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes. The Ta-Chin and Baklava were also extremely good. The location and setting/atmosphere are just an added bonus to the overall experience. I would highly recommend this place, it's by far the best Turkish/Iranian restaurant in terms of taste in Cape Town and a definite must go!
Just absolutely incredible. Had such an exquisite meal. My partner and I could not have been happier. The host Zahra is also just super nice! Love the whole experience.Food: 5/5
I ordered the Khak Shir and Veg Combo with spiced rice. Firstly, they have a great waitress unfortunately, I forgot her name and I think that's the most welcome I've felt while visiting a restaurant in Cape Town - specially when going alone. As for the food, it was great. I liked the drink which for some reason made me a little light headed probably because I hadn't had anything all day. The hummus in veg combo is definitely the best I've had and the spiced rice were actually spiced & so delicately prepared. The dolmades were pretty good as well. The ambience is nice and the music is pretty much what you'd expect plus it's kept at a nice background volume. I'll go back!
Wow what a find ! They specialise in Iranian cuisine. Good value for money, great variety of options veg, vegan, gluten free and meat options. Cosy neat restaurant, if you’re a big group best to call ahead. Good service.
This restaurant is great for hosting events and functions. The food is absolutely divine. Large portions for large groups as well. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Will recommend 100%.
An unassuming little hole in the wall with a big surprise inside.. Cosy Persian restaurant with the interior recreated to Persian norms.. from the dangling lights, to the huge mural on the wall, to the Persian rug hanging on the wall, the sitting, the little Shisha room- all little details recreating the typical Iranian restaurant setting. The food was very interesting- a burst of Eastern flavors unleashed on my very Western palate- it was really a revelation. The kebabs were very well made, meat so soft it melted onto your tongue Probably not for the less adventurous- definitely a very new experience
Loooovely food, my new favourite restaurant in town! We had a platter with chicken, beef and lamb kebabs, funny lemonades with chia seeds etc, and a homemade baklava as a desert. We had a chai tea with flowers afterwards that smelled amazing. Overall a great experience with amazing food ! Definitely recommended! Can’t wait to come again!
Quite the surprise discovering this little gem in the city last night! We didn't know what was in the space above the cnr cafe and Villa Portuguese in Buitenkant street, so took a stroll and were pleasantly surprised by the very unpretentious and quaint Persian Peacock Little open rooftop courtyard as you walk in and few large and smaller tables inside, lovely stained lanterns and Persian decor and paraphernalia to suit the mood and feel. Saw the huge 'Tah-chin' shaped saffron rice dish filled with meat or veg option, with pomegranates and balsamic drizzle being served to a table as we walked in- will def.order on my next visit. Didn't book, but they made a spot for us in the corner as place was buzzing and constant stream of clientele popping in and keeping the seats full. Some refreshing house drinks to start and cool the sweats and opted for the tender chicken kebab with flatbread, aubergine dip and pickles and the Pizza Koobideh with lamb kebab/sausage with smoky tomato, butter, sumac sauce on side to share. Utterly delicious and would recommend some of the sharing players with meats and dips etc to share, which were also flying out of the kitchen. BYOB as tables were having wines, but unsure of corkage etc. Delightful evening at The Persian Peacock.
The food is amazing. My mother was a renowned cook in her very large social circle in Iran, I’ve eaten Persian food in London, Paris, LA, DC and Dubai …. The food here is better !!! Seriously it’s better. Don’t even hesitate or look for other options. After going here two nights in a row, I would go back tomorrow but alas our time in Cape Town is coming to an end. I guarantee you’ll love the food.
