The views are breathtaking and we were lucky to have the best weather. We would suggest wearing comfortable closed shoes as it is a bit of a walk to the potholes with lots of rocks and uneven surfaces along the way. If you're visiting on a hot day, carry a hat or cap as it can get intense. Be sure to visit the museum on your way out, it is very informative and would be interesting for kids. Entrance fees vary and are dependent on the season you visit. Important to note, there will be a different fee for foreign visitors.
This is one of those places where it is difficult to believe that what you are looking at is real. It is astounding, truly. The photos can capture some of what it feels like, but none can truly prepare you for the experience. The vivid colors, the swirling curves, the rushing water — it’s just amazing. It is accessible by a quick easy trail and so worth it!
Area is kept clean, relatively safe, there are some stalls as well as a shop for takeaways. The area itself is beautiful. P.S- Did you know, this is the 3rd largest canyon in the world...
The views are stunning and the bridges and walkways are lovely. Definitely want to go back on a day with less rain so that I can actually spend more time exploring and enjoying the views of the canyon and the surrounds. Also would love to just sit a bit and munch something while taking it all in, but have to have dry weather for that.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Visited in December 2022. There are plenty of picnic areas as you enter the reserve. We decided to go straight to the potholes. What a sight! When you walk across the bridges and look down to see the magnitude of water swirling at the bottom you can only stand in awe. We also climbed the rocks on the other side to get closer to the waterfall. Parking: Security access Entrance fee: R60 p/person Safety: Big crowds so make sure car is locked and goods are stowed away. However, seemed safe while we were there. Weather: Perfectly visible in foggy conditions
Great scenery, worth the entrance fee. Free toilets at car park. You have to do some steps on the stones, high bridges, gorgeous view into the gorge. Many souvenir shops with the usual gifts
Beautiful site to visit. The little walk to the Potholes is great, the water refreshing, but be careful of the slippery stones in the river... however, the parking area does not offer the peace nature should inspire... lots of loud music being played in all corners and the place is not very clean. Also, the entrance price is getting quite expensive...
This was one of the highlights of our trip and a must if you are in the area.Safe parking and about 600m or more walking down to the falls very easy but coming back a little bit more tough.
It’s really a beautiful place but it’s expensive if you compare it to the other sites in the area. There’s toilets, restaurant and gift shops. I would recommend. The price is 130R per adult.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
The park is well maintained and very clean. There is a museum that has information about the history of tourist attractions in Mpumalanga and there is other facilities such as shops, a restaurant and toilets. There is an entrance fee that you need to pay.Visited onWeekend
