I first visited the Bryanston market in the early 1980's & it has certainly stood the test of time. At one time I was there every weekend. It had been a long time since my last visit, just a matter of life. It seems strange to say it's the same but different. Different because the lay out has changed some stalls are the same quite a few have changed however, what is the same is that lovely atmosphere. Even on a cold day the stall holders have a ready smile & time for a chat. The stalls still have the most beautiful items on display. I can recall taking overseas visitors there on many an occasions. My favourite memory is going to a Christmas evening market, sitting on the patio having a lovely meal with my family & listening to the folk music, to add to the atmosphere the market had lights everywhere. I have to say I enjoyed it more than the winter Christmas market's in Europe. I have promised myself a visit to Bryanston market this coming Christmas, more likely even before then.
Great place to browse local products and artwork. Enjoy a light meal and drink while you're there. No entrance fee and free parking.
Absolutely loved the experience. I definitely want to keep visiting and supporting this market! Please take some time to pop in.
This market is so cute and quiet. I always feel like I'm walking through a secret garden or something. I need to spend more time here but the stores were lovely and I can't wait to try the food.
Spontaneously decided to pop past here as I saw a couple of friends visit here and it seemed cool. The market was fairly quiet, even for a Saturday. There is a wide array of food, drinks and craft stalls. It’s a great environment for all ages. Definitely try Meera’s Dosas out as well as The Green Bean Coffee!
If you like anything organic, or if you are vegan or vegetarian, this market is for you! It is located inside the Waldorf school and going early is recommended. There’s not only plenty of stalls and shopping opportunities, but also a huge variety of local and international types of food available. Don’t miss the coffee shop with roasted beans from Uganda. There’s plenty of tables and seating inside and friendly costumer service all around. We’ll be back soon!
I love the Bryanston Market and visit regularly when I am in Johannesburg. It is great as a place to get fresh produce, organic foods, plants, and clothing or crafts from small independent retailers. The quality of traders is well-managed and you can always find interesting goodies. Most recently we went to the moonlight market where we had a great time eating pizza and chocolate cake and listening to an amazing band. The vibe was relaxed and we enjoyed every minute.
Great piano player provides calming background music. Great food, creative products, lovely stalls, dog friendly & friendly vibe.
Small organic market with stalls surrounding a central area to sit to eat and relax with delicious food and coffee. Kids love the sandpits and area which looks like stoves so they can pretend to cook.
I didn't try the food places but they have amazing goods on offer. Handcrafted so unique. Crystals. Candles with the most amazing scents. Too much to mention. I will go back there. Lovely vibe.
