You have to buy tickets online .no cash or cards accepted there. Guide was informed as best he could . It's a pity we were rushed as I did want to question him about his facts. The inside is still in fair condition but they will have to start paying attention to the museum as not everything is working. Boat ride was fun .also they have no proper signage to indicate where to go or exit .we had to go in by ourselves and had no idea once we got out how to get back to the parking . Food options don't even bother .run down with no options and I'm guessing overpriced. They where running a special for R100 which for that amount was worth it . Staff friendly enough
Interesting museum with very informative exhibition and stunning architecture and landscape. Worth a visit, especially for tge price. Was a bit disappointed to see a few exhibition electronics out if order.... Our New Zealand visitor said it was the best museum they've ever seen.
This is one of the most important museums in my opinion that shows the evolution of the Human species. It is located in the so called Cradle of Humankind where some of the oldest hominid fossils have been discovered. The museum is a great idea but unfortunately suffers from a lack of execution. The people who work there I am sure do their best but a lot of the exhibits don’t work, don’t have a very coherent theme so the story of what the museum is about doesn’t come alive. It could have been so much more. I would still highly recommend visiting this museum
I truly enjoyed my experience here and would want every child between grade 4-8 to have an opportunity to visit this museum. There are tours available and an interactive display to test your knowledge on various topics. This site might even help end racism as it gives a scientific insight into our earliest existence. Wow!
Great experience for the whole family. You get to tour around the centre with a tour guide. The centre showcases fossils that help explain the history of human evolution. Thrilling history lesson. This was my second visit in 10 years and I was still captivated by the heritage site.
This was my second visit after 6 years. The place has survived the effects of COVID and is ready to warmly welcome visitors again. Great outing with kids. Well recommended for a quick activity.
This place is such a breath of fresh air. Extremely educational. It was fun learning about African history; even my 5-year-old nephew was intrigued. The tour was excellently done, and all staff members were friendly and helpful from the security guy at the gate, the car guard, and ticket stuff to the tour guide guy. It's something different compared to the usual outings people have. I was just disappointed that in our tour guide slot, we were the only black people, not a train smash. Anyway, I 10/10 recommend visiting Maropeng. Tickets must be booked online, R100 per person, and free for kids under 6 years old.
It was a wonderful place which I could share some of the videos I took there. The trip was amazing and the site are very informative great for all age groups especially children it widens their minds on fossils and the extinctions of dinosaurs which is something very cool.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 min
Great tranquil place to learn and explore about our origins, taking you back in time. Also quite humbling in the greater scheme of things. Much is yet to be found in Africa. What hidden treasures are patiently waiting to be unearthed within our African soil? I must commend the security guard at the main gate entrance. Very professional, warm and inviting. Great ambassador.
Wotta WOW!! So informative even if you don't believe in evolutionary ideals. Kids will really find it a unique outing with such an exciting 'floating' tour. Experience a 'void' earth, and the ice age, see volcanos! Neat, paved parking areas, lovely bushveld views, pleasant smiling Security and Tourguides. Book a covered tented picnic in Stone Garden, with low pallet tables and a fresh variety of munchies, with champagne! It was wonderfully different.
