What an outstanding setting; my family and I tried the ice cream and chocolate taste tasting. The atmosphere throughout the entire establishment is fantastic; we are certainly returning very soon.
A small but delicious chocolate selection for chocolate tasting. We bought 4 slabs of chocolate based on what we tasted. All very yummy. Service was very slow. The queue to pay for chocolates/ice-cream/tasting was so long, it went to the back of the store and then along the fire place, which also blocked the shelves for those wanting to choose chocolates.
Great chocolates made on site. Great facilities and friendly service. You can taste all their many varieties of chocolate for about R50 per person. Situation on the Spice Route premises with CBC and restaurants close by. Great restroom facilities and a must family visit.
Wonderful chocolate and Ice cream and Sorbet. We normally order online but we were in Paarl so we stopped by. Definitely worth to have some ice cream especially with the surroundings. They do all kind of favours of chocolate and they have suger free chocolate . The staff were all so friendly and passionate about their work.
You will not see a “chocolate manufacturing” as some people would say, you will just see the mechines. It is just a good chocolate shop, awesome for gifts!. You can taste all kind of chocolate & buy them.
We did a tasting which was them just giving us 5 small pieces of chocolate that we chose from a list and going to eat it. Then wasn’t any explanation of the product unfortunately, which is kind of the reason of doing a tasting. Tip: they had the tasting chocolates near the till where you buy products, if you buy the same chocolates there it’s R25 compared to the R50 tasting.
Turned off at the Spice Route, looking for De Villiers chocolate, ended up turning left at the T-Junction on the restaurants side. The signage indicating where De Villiers Chocolate was not the best. Between the 4 of us, took us a little while before finally getting there. Unfortunately, with the C19 restrictions and limited time, we did not get to doing a chocolate tasting per se, but, we certainly bought enough stock/variety to do a tasting of our own. Staff were friendly and helpful, could not resist the ice-cream to go as well. Next time, will allocate a little more time to enable us to experience the delights on offer.
If you're at Spice Route, you NEED to visit DV! It's incredibly well priced and you get to taste a huge variety of chocolate! Find your favourite and grab a slab at the end!
What an amazing experience we had today! We truly found another gem for relaxation and for having a fun time of food, drink, desserts, coffee, beer and wine. Definitely a place where family and friends can hangout together for an entire day. De Villiers Chocolate, for those of you who like chocolate. Getting to learn about the process of making chocolate, so educational and it really helped us to have an appreciation for this delicacy we love. The staff enhancing our overall experience by their bubbly personalities. For us definitely deserving a comeback several times more.
Bought my "fix" of chocolate for the rest of the year. I will recommend the tastings of chocolate. There is icecream and sorbets, will try that next time. Looking through the windows how they prepare the icecream was a experience I will recommend for the foodies.
