We were there over the weekend. Other guests partied playing loud music being drunken way past 12 at night. Management did not care to quiten them even though the "rule" is no noise after 10pm and there were lots of other people with young children. Indoor pools were murky and dirty. BEES WERE A SERIOUS ISSUE. IF YOU ARE ALLERGIC, I ADVISE YOU NOT TO EVER COME HERE. Swarmed around us on site constantly and my little boy got stung. Couldn't walk around barefoot either. Male showers were cold all the time. Staff were quite rude to the children on different occasions. Spent a lot of money but won't return. Wildlife and slides were lovely, but not enough to make up for the rest unfortunately. Tried it, but now we know.
Unfortunately I cannot rate this place. Stayed at a lovely other Resort this weekend and while driving around wanted to pop in here and check it out Gate guard under strict instructions not to allow visitors. Not even interested in contacting management. They must be doing well, but they've definitely lost a potential client
What a charming resort! From the Guards at the gate to the staff doing allround maintenance! Seems like staff knows their roles and the Management team is making such a difference! Imagine management braaing weekends for their staff? The Owners should tap themselves on the shoulder for employing this winning team whose only interest is to make guests feel at home, the resort looking good and keep owners happy! Good Job! Sanitary and wash up facilities are Spick and Span! The shop, and bar are run with a strict but friendly hand, always clean and tidy. There are pathways from the caravans to the various facilities, well lit at night! Wheelchair Friendly ! We had the most pleasant surprise when we orders a general toasted sandwich and chips! It was Loaded, nothing skimpy here.. the pools are beautifully kept. And the rides and slides a kids and many a. Adults dream. The braais and bins was cleaned daily, Whatever the Owners or management implemented it works! You have a next level team, keep trusting what your doing to make it nice and comfy for all guests. Good job, we had a blast! Thanks All , definitely a Yes Yes Yes for us! The Brits family thank you kindly for making everything so nice and lovely. On my doing a next booking here.
The campsite is in the Dinokeng reserve and there are speed bumps to control speed limit, so take it easy if you have a standard caravan and the road from the main road to the campsite is a short dirt road but drivable. We camped on a private stand and really enjoyed the space. I would recommend that the staff clean the ablutions daily though. The resort is well managed and the facilities are nice and neat. We always had hot water. There is plenty activities for the kids and adults alike. The campsite is expensive but in saying this, the super tube is at no extra cost and the guests can enjoy them as many times as the want and I would recommend to family and friends. I do think it would be awesome if they did offer a laundry facility too.
The new managers at Dinokeng have unfortunately ruined the entire vibe at the resort. The husband and wife team are very rude and spoke to us as if were were school children, instead of paying customers. None of our group of 33 people will return. There was a noise complaint about our birthday party which when a fellow camper asked for the music to go down we complied & apologized. Most of our group were in bed by 22:00. The manger & his wife barged into our camp early morning to shout at 2 of our group who had nothing to do with the music. Then at 11am came back to scold us & ruin our afternoon because we played soft music over brunch. As many other campers were doing The audacity of blaming us for noise when we were woken by a leaf blower at 6:45am & the refuse collection happening first thing in the morning! That is completely unnecessary noise for a Saturday morning. We have to tolerate their noise and many screaming toddlers, so little bit of soft music in the afternoon is not much to ask. Three other camp sites were playing music and weren’t reprimanded. The managers aren’t focused on making the camp a pleasant experience, blowing a whistle at the swimmers. They choose who to bully to try show their prowess as managers. We saw huge changes from our last visit and it could even be seen on the faces of the many staff at the camp. They even picked on our kids for splashing in the pool. We’ve been here many times before and never been treated like this. We then watched the manageress point our group out to other campers and smirk as she walked passed. This woman is a toxic addition to a normally welcoming atmosphere. Her whistle and walkie talkie should be confiscated immediately! My friend has been a frequent and loyal customer to the camp site over the past 5 years and was spoken to in an unacceptable manner in front of all his friends. The manager threatened to remove my friend and called him arrogant, when he was nothing but polite & apologetic. 14 of us witnessed this appalling behavior from a resort manager who clearly has no experience in the hospitality industry. These managers have cost the resort untold future earnings. None of us will return! There are many other lovely resorts that welcome you instead of this shocking treatment we all experienced. Talking to the campers near us they too were shocked at what was going on.
Unfortunately not a good experience at all. I booked a Chalet for my wife and our two children 2 years old and 9 months old. We were not informed that the Chalet's were situated away from the main resort, that there was no cell phone signal there during or outside of loadshedding or that the location is isolated away from all other people. We arrived in the afternoon, saw how secluded we were from the rest of the resort, were unable to make any calls due to no cell phone reception and so decided to drive back up to the main resort. In doing so, we contacted the owner/manager and raised our concerns. They assured us that there were other people booking into the other Chalet's around us that evening and that the resort is safe, so we decided to wait and see. The rest of the resort was lifeless, the restaurant was closed as well as the local shop and it just didn't feel very welcoming or "resort-like" at all. We decided to go to the King Fisher restaurant in the reserve at another reputable lodge, where they served good food and also had backup power once the loadshedding kicked in at 7pm. We decided to go back to our Chalet, but upon arrival, there was no backup power, lighting or any contingencies made for loadshedding at all. We all felt really uneasy driving back to our Chalet only to find that there were no other occupants who booked in as we were told. We were completely alone, in the middle of nowhere, in the dark, with two babies and no cell phone reception to top it all off. We did not feel safe, as you can easily become a target in an isolated, remote area away from the resort and then don't have any means to contact anyone. There were no backup lights when we arrived either and the whole experience felt like we were conned into believing this resort was as glamorous as the website makes it out to be. After some research on TripAdvisor and other sites, I found the ratings for this resort have recently plummeted and I realise i should have done my due diligence sooner. I will not recommend this "resort" as it is a far cry from what you'd expect when comparing to a ATKV or Forever Resort experience. I ended up leaving back to JHB after 20:30pm, because I could not stomach having my wife and children stay in an unsafe place for the sake of a peaceful holiday we were looking for. I am fortunate enough to be working in an industry with the understanding of business operations and rules required for these venues to operate under, and will also be lodging a relevant complaint with the Ombudsman and would encourage everyone else who recently had a confirmed unfair experience to do as well.
The resort has made no arrangements for load shedding, not even one battery operated light in the chalets. The water stops running when load shedding happens so no showers or flushing toilets. If only the new management would spend their time looking to Improve the experience at the resort instead of nit picking the guests. I watched the manager and his wife be incredibly rude to a group of guests, going so far as to radio the male staff of the resort to surround the guests to intimidate them and try look powerful. The look in the staff faces was of annoyance and confusion for having been called at 9:30pm for no real reason. What a shame to see a nice resort go downhill due to bad management. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER REPLY: As the owner of the resort it would be nice to address the fact that an emergency light wasn’t supplied in the chalet when load shedding is a realty other resorts I’ve visited have made arrangements to make dealing with load shedding manageable. The toilets at the pool were in such a state late at night with people being unable to flush. They are not allegations … I was witness to the manager calling all his male staff out of bed to surround these people and got chatting to them after the incident. They were not intoxicated nor unreasonable. The group were a nice group of people I ended up going back to their campsite to continue our conversation. I believe they have been frequent guests to the resort and the new managers treated them in a totally uncalled for manner. It is clear from what I witnessed all around the resort the new management are the root cause of unnecessary drama. Including the woman manager with the whistle scolding the kids in the pool. The manager is getting you as the owner fired up with blatant lies. i.e threatening wildlife?? really what wildlife and how … you are desperately trying to justify your managers who have lied to you. You may need to pray a little harder with managers like that and you may quote Richard Branson all you like but it’s clear you are more concerned with a personal vendetta than how your customers, cleaning, kitchen & bar staff are currently feeling.
The resort has a state of the art booking system that gives you immediate feedback via email. Unlike many other resorts they respond on a Saturday to your last minute email enquiries too. The campsites are large. Ablutions are new and showers are spacious. There are also private ablutions available. We saw quite a bit of game on the access road to the campsite including golden wildebees. There is a lovely pool area, with multiple pools, indoor and outdoor, hot and cold. Lovely little shop and a takeaway offering a range of light meals, tea and coffee.Super tubes adjacent to the pool area. An impressive setup. You can also go for walks into the game area. All in all a great place to break away to.
Great bush veld atmosphere with a well run resort that is clean and neat and camping is fairly priced. Beautiful social area with covered and open pools with cold and warm water swimming pools. Water slides for the kids, a great pub Vlak Vark Water Gat for adults and a well stocked convenience store. Lovely walks in the bush with a fishing dam on the property. Casper and team attentive to needs of campers and other guests and even arranged a communal braai on the Wednesday night. Would highly recommend. Nearby activities: Dinokeng Game Reserve with self drive option is very close to the resort. Dinokeng has the big 5 animals. Food & drinks: Only a take away kiosk but they intend building a restaurant in the future.
We love dinokeng resort. Friendly staff. Excellent owners. Never to busy to share some stories about our visits over the years. The ablusion blocks is the cleanest i ever experienced since camping. The owners do a pap and source night which they supply all and mingle with all the guests. The managers is friendly and helpfull and available till late at night for our needs. The ground staff lije Lucky is always there ti assit us in setting up camp as i have health limitations. The grounds are kept clean the pools are always clean. On our last visit the pizza restuarant was being build can not wait to have pizza on our next visit at the resort. In all our years of visiting dinokeng resort we have never experienced disrespectfull treatment from the friendly owners or management. We have taken many family and friend to the resort and they love it. We had many request for special ocations on camping sitr and the assistance by the owners and management team has been phenominal.
