Kapama Southern Camp

Incredible accommodation, incredible food, incredible staff and finally, incredible game viewing. If anyone is looking for a 3 night getaway this is your place! Our guide Jabu, and his tracker Lot were eager to show us not only the Big 5 but everything in between and they were excitable on all moments of our game drives. I highly recommend booking once there a bush walk as it seriously gives you a different perspective of the bush.

Kapama is an incredible reserve. Ranger Eleck Nyathi and tracker Lanie Mathebula are based at Southern Camp and showed us every animal we wanted to see, from leopards to African wild dogs. We will be requesting them for future visits!

Staying at the Southern Kapama Camp is an experience you will never forget - it was by far the most amazing place I have ever been. My girlfriend and I stayed for 5 nights/6 days in one of the stunning villas. Everything about Kapama is perfect: 1. Every staff member from the grounds crew to your Safari guides is welcoming and genuinely kind. Our guide was Joseph, tracker was Sandile, and our food attendant was Preciant. You will not have a bad experience with anyone at Kapama but I do highly recommend the three. Joseph and Sandile’s expert tracking and overall ability to find animals is astounding. They spotted a chameleon at night in a tree while the vehicle was moving! Preciant is one of the sweetest people we have met - she truly took great care of us at each meal and had many wonderful surprises up her sleeve! 2. You will see some amazing animals! It took our full time to see all the big five the leopard is elusive but we saw literally everything in between and some which are very rare to find. Far exceeded our expectations. Kapama is not a zoo so it may take some time. I do recommend staying as long as you can. You will simply have more opportunities to see cool things like lions eating! 3. You can really relax at Kapama - the Southern Camp is quiet and peaceful. We visited the spa 3 times while there and it’s world class. We also did a bush walk and went to a cheetah sanctuary nearby. Both were great! There is also an elephant sanctuary but we decided not to go since it overlaps with the scheduled morning safari drives. Yes, you will wake up at 5AM everyday for the morning safari but it’s well worth. Mid day is the perfect time to get some rest in between! 4. You will never be hungry! The food is always very fresh and delicious. Your only problem is maybe eating too much. Wait until you try their bread! Tips: - Get to know the people working at Kapama! - Bring warm clothes if coming in the winter. Warmer than you think. It can get a little chilly since the trucks are open top. Your guide will provide blankets and heating pads while it’s cooler. Also, bring some rain clothes as safaris happen rain or shine. You will be provided ponchos also. - Put down the camera and enjoy the views - Binoculars are a good to have but not necessary - you will get up close with many of the animals - Bring cash with you for tipping, etc. There is no ATM onsite at Southern Camp. - Be mindful of others in your vehicle! It was very difficult to say bye to Kapama - can’t wait to return one day!!

They all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Rooms: The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms there was even a tv by the shower, and high quality service. Also. Food & drinks: The food was so delicious.

Our South African honeymoon was made truly unforgettable thanks to the incredible experience at Kapama Southern Camp. Everything was beyond exceptional: 5 star food & drink, 5 star accommodations, and most important of all, 5 star hospitality and game drives. We were lucky enough to have Prescilla as our ranger and Sandile as our tracker and we cannot recommend them enough. They are THE BEST! Not only are they fun to be around, they are both consummate professionals - extremely knowledgable, patient, and eager to show all aspects of the unpredictable African bush. We saw all of the big 5 and MORE. Every game drive was new and exciting and we were constantly pursuing fresh tracks, listening for danger calls and taking the time to notice the little things. I could go on and on. They made our trip so incredibly special. We also can't leave this review without calling out Phicance, our wonderful server who made sure we had everything we could possibly want/need and then some. She was so warm and kind and very funny. We loved her company and felt so special thanks to her impeccable service. If you find yourself at Kapama Southern Camp and meet Phicance, give her a big hug from us. We can't wait to recommend this place to all of our friends and family and look forward to returning one day.

It was a great experience. The staff was courteous, professional and very service-minded. The food was delicious, and we really enjoyed the tours. The most luxurious hotel we have been to in South Africa. I would like to mention Lindiwe who was amazing and helped us a lot throughout our stay I would recommend the hotel to everyone, amazing!

Definitely one of our favorite places!! Excellent accommodation wich is very neat and clean.... we love the fluffy white bedding! Special thank you to Jabu who was once again our ranger and exceeded our expectations with the exceptional Leopard sighting!!
