Shindzela is an afforable 16 bed tented safari camp situated in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, part of the greater Kruger National Park. Offering both game drives and walking safaris.

Mission

To provide an affordable, authentic African safari with warm, relaxed hospitality and good game viewing. We are not a hotel in the bush - its all about the safari experience!

I have been to quite a few lodges and reserves in this area. Shindzela is definitely one of my favorites! This was my second visit and it was very nice. Reuben en eddie were great on the game drives. You never know what you are going to see but the staff will make it fun. if there are not a lot of big animals they will tell you about the birds and tracks. However you always see a lot. 4 out of the big 5 for us in one game drive. The food is good and the room is what you pay for. The drive there can be a bit tricky with the rain but doable
My boyfriend & I stayed at Shindzela in April and we enjoyed it so much. Can only recommend it! Especially the safari drives with Sam whose knowledge and passion for the wild life was amazing. Together with spotter Edgar, we found all the beautiful animals and learned so much. The tents are very beautiful and in excellent condition, generally everything’s well kept after and all staff are very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back one day.
Such an incredible experience on safari, and a very comfortable, welcoming, inviting place to come back to. Lovely people all around! And a great watering hole for amusement between safari drives! Ruben was amazing, and sought out the animals on our list, and then some! He made me feel safe even when logic said I should not…cause those animals were cloooose!!! Wishing I was back there looking for more animals right now!
We spent 3 nights at Shindzela and could not have been happier. Comfortable accommodations with warm bedding and hot showers in the midst of a beautiful area of Timbavati. We had a fantastic time with our guide Sam and we saw the Big 5 which was notable but so many other amazing animals and nature as well. Sam is a friendly professional and talented guide! The food was also great - amazing 3 meals a day served in a nice outdoor lodge setting. Highly recommend!
We took our 2 phone obsessed teenage sons to Shindzela - solar power and getting up at 05:30, and it was amazing! The accommodation is rustic enough to suggest camping yet super comfortable with great showers, food was home made and delicious cornish pasties were a big hit! and served with the biggest smiles and the host and guides exceptional big thanks to Sam for finding us the cats!. The water hole across the river bed didn't disappoint ellies, hyena, buffalo and warthog and neither did the stars or spectacular sun sets. It was like being in a very jolly family for our 3 days. Brilliant memories made. Enormous thanks to everyone.
Shindzela beat every expectation. Caring personelle, astounding location, great service and a close and personal encounter with Africa’s fauna. We were very lucky to have seen 7 ! Rhinos on our first drive, but Sam, our guide, made every drive special, educational and fun. Even just laying around the pool, you get to enjoy a large variety of animals visiting the watering hole. Highly recommended if you truly want to experience every animal documentary you’ve seen on tv.
Even though the accomodation has been upgraded, you still experience staying in the wild in your tent. Great game drives with all the animals Timbavati has to offer walking free from Kruger park. We were lucky to see a pact of wild dogs.
We stayed 3 nights at Shindzela and completed 6 game drives. The staff is wonderful and work to meet all your needs. The rooms are updated and clean upon arrival back to camp each night. Simple luxury. The bathrooms are great with the open air feel but screened in to prevent most insects. Hot water readily available to shower. The meals were excellent and we never went hungry. The staff was very considerate of nutritional needs at all times. The fire side dinners were special. Lastly the rangers and spotters were exceptional and passionate to show us guests the wildlife. Each took time to answer questions in depth and explain many of the finer details. We we're lucky enough to have checked off our big 5 and more after 2 drives. We were up close and personal with all big game. I would recommend Shindzela to any friend.
This is an amazing, magical place. Staff go above and beyond, trackers and guides are incredibly talented and knowledgeable. I really loved that the camp was unfenced and quickly learned why guests are walked to our tents at night when we saw two lions at the water hole! We enjoyed the company of other guests and the overall sense of adventure and chill around camp. Only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer! Very much planning to return!
Had an awesome two night stay here. Great and friendly guides. The provided breakfast, lunch and dinner is very tasteful. The game drives were very cool too. Apart from lions, we've seen the rest of the Big Five. And also lots of other animals.
