My friend and I had a wonderful time at Mabula Lodge 4/16-4/18/23. From the lovely hand wash welcome on arrival to the last game drive, we were treated like favorite guests. My thanks to Reception for immediately putting a mini fridge in our room for my insulin. The hotel, grounds, and rooms were beautiful and augmented by a very nice gift shop and grocery store. Thank you Rosinah. What a treat to sip champagne in the sunshine and breeze by the water. We loved the game drives and our guide, Ben. Seeing animals in their natural habitat is nothing like going to a zoo. Ben knew right where to go. We saw so many animals and birds. At each siting, Ben gave interesting details about the animal. Being less than 10' from a pride of lions was thrilling. One more thing, the food was phenomenal.
We had an amazing time at Mabula Game Lodge. The park has lots of great facilities. Really enjoyed the game drives. Has magnificent citings. You can find 4 of the big 5 here only Lions are excluded. We were fortunate to see 3 of the 4 and many other game. Certainly worth the visit.Rooms: 4/5
The garvel road to the lodge was bad, but inside the lodge, the road was smooth. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and you wake up to a beautiful view, jacuzzi to relax after a day of game drives and even a pool table. Becareful there are wild animals and we seem to have heard a Leapord one night, you can also see the Milky-Way clearly. I am definitely going back again, wonderful place and experience.
Great for 1st timer safaris and seasonal. Staff are extremely polite. Beautiful setting. Lodge is fantastic. Great food. Excellent safari guides. Can't say enough about this. Just book !Rooms: 5/5
Wow, what an awesome place. Well equipped self-catering chalets. Vodacom and Mtn signal is good. Telkom no so much. The waterhogs, jackals, kudus and birds comes within arms length from where you're sitting outside. Great boma to braai at. The Modjadji entertainment area with the pool for adults and kids, play area for kids, man size chess board, putt putt, table tennis and the jumping pillow keeps the kids and adults busy. The game drive is a must Liam our guide was extremely well versed and informative. The lady that serviced our chalet unit nr 35 was also a gem. We will definitely visit Mabula again. Nearby activities: Thaba Kwena Crocodile farm outside Bela-Bela is a must visit. Food & drinks: Peets pads tall is very nice, quiet and the food is amazing especially the milktart and milkshakes. Just outside Bela-Bela towards Mabula.
Mabula Game Lodge provides great accommodation and recommended game drives. Only shortcomings are visitors are not permitted to walk beyond the areas surrounding the cottages or housing units. presence of game such as hippos etc Nor are visitors permitted to drive on roads within the reserve reasons being the protection of wildlife especially Rhino etc from poaching. Staff attendance and service is excellent. Pools and entertainment areas caters for young childen Rooms: Rooms are typical of a wildlife reserve, clean and regularly serviced. Units are thatched with a covering of Harvey tiles. Safety: The reserve is within a conservancy area with other similar reserves. Safety is not an issue. Walkability: See above comments. Food & drinks: The menu offers a wide variety of food. The entertainment pool area is complete with an adequately on- site grocery shop providing essentials.
We had the PERFECT bucket list vacation at Mabula Game Lodge! It was our first time going to Africa on a safari and it was everything we could have possibly wanted and more! The staff were amazing in every area, everyone was so kind and helpful whenever we needed anything. We had Apollo for our tour guide everyday, he was so informative and experienced, he would stop along the way to track the prints to see where we should go. We ended up seeing everything except for the leopards. The food was top notch, we loved every meal that we had. There was always something new to try and they had quite a wide variety to offer. Koketso was the best waiter and made our experience so much more enjoyable! If you wanted to order alcohol or food off the menu, the prices were very reasonable. Tea and coffee was included with every meal as well. They had Boma dinner outside a few nights and had traditional African dancer/singers come perform which was amazing to see and very fun to dance with them! The house keeping was amazing, Johanna did such a great job keeping our room in order during our stay. She would basically spring clean our room each day! She would sweep, mop the floors, make our bed and clean the bathrooms. We went in May, so the weather was very cool in the morning and evening, and very comfortable in the afternoon. They had ponchos for everyone to wear during the safari that kept us warm and comfortable. They would always stop for coffee & biscuits in the morning, and drinks & snacks in the evening on the safaris which was a nice time to chat with everyone we were riding with. They had several activities offered at $30 per person including horse back riding, quad bikes, stargazing tour, cheetah tracking and bushwalks. We ended up doing every activity and loved them all! They also had a kids room, tennis court, pool, and the best spa DEFINITELY RECOMMEND There are so many more good things we could say about our trip, but if you are looking for a first time safari trip, this is the perfect place to be!! Rooms: The room we stayed in was very nice. The house keeping was top notch! Johanna did an amazing job keeping our room clean everyday. She would sweep, mop, make the bed, change towels, sanitize the bathroom clean toilet, wipe down sinks, etc, and bring us new soaps everyday. It always felt fresh walking in every evening! Nearby activities: They had several activities offered at $30 per person including horse back riding, quad bikes, stargazing tour, cheetah tracking and bushwalks. We ended up doing every activity and loved them all! They also had a kids room, tennis court, pool, and the best spa DEFINITELY RECOMMEND Food & drinks: Buffet always had new options each day. We got to try so many unique foods! Everything was delicious. Ifyou wanted to order alcohol or food off the menu, the prices were very reasonable. Tea and coffee was included with every meal as well.
Newly renovated spacy chalets. Knowledge-able gamedrivers. Excellent restaurant food. You see lots of animals in 2 days. Swimming pools well maintained. A real safe bush experience!! Recommended. Nearby activities: Game drives, swimming, tennis, braai, curioshop, restaurant. Safety: 100% except for naughty monkeys. Walkability: Gardens well maintained. Busy upgrading. Night drives too. Food & drinks: Excellent Noteworthy details: Quiet, animals visit chalets. Lots of lights
A place of tranquility, truly can unwind. We were in our chalet, time share, needs some attention. Service and food at the main Lodge was exemplary. Kudus to Khumbelo and Sam. We saw all the game, really fabulous sitightings. We will always go back!! Rooms: Chalets need some attention. Broken 'fridge door. Safety: Safety superb. Feel really at at ease in chalet and game drives. Food & drinks: Food and service at Lodge exemplary. Good choice of food. Sorts all tastes. Sam and Khumbelo assisted us the days we were there and they were fantastic.
The stay at Mabula Bush Self-Catering was nice. Beautiful skyline views in the evenings. Ranger guides were awesome. Got to see a pride of lions . Activities for kids was sufficient with an all in-one court for soccer, cricket etc. I do think that more attention should be invested into maintaining their self-catering houses and upon arrival our rooms were not cleaned properly.
