What makes this hospital great is the staff. They are kind and welcoming. Truly some amazing nurses who are made for caring. Loved my maternity ward experience as well as the infant high care staff. You feel as though you are in good hands. And the coffee is AMAZING and I have been extremely impressed with the meals and quality of food.
The hospital is preparing for an extensive revamp and increase in size. The surgical ward staff are attentive, catering was tailored to personal tastes and overall great experience for in-hospital stays
Everyone in this hospital is amazing, from reception to food service and security. A special big thanks to Sr Pumi and Sr Nel in day ward. This hospital is the golden standard for all hospitals.
October 2021, My mother was hospitalised for kidney failure. My mother end up having a huge stroke, because the nurse in the ICU did not listen to the simptoms leading to the stroke. Although I made her aware of it she ignored it, and didnʻt gave the info through to the doctor. Saying NOTHING was wrong with my mom. My mom ended up being paralised in the whole right side of her body, no speech and with PEG Tube for feeding. I wanted to report that sister at the time at the Medical Board, for incompency. Today we had a similar experience at the same hospital, when that PEG Tube had to be replaced. The nurses in Ward G, Floor 3, where rude and handled this fragile lady harsh. Her right arm canʻt move, they forced her arm to move and hurt her tremendous, her arm are blue afterwards. Although my mom cried enormously they just ignored it and went on. This only needed to be a 30min procedure, but we were at the hospital from 12:00 to 18:00. The one nurse had remarks why my moms carers will still in the hospital, but the carers needed to transfer her in and out of the beds, because she is paralised. With discharge, the one carer, checked the PEG Tube and find that the tube had no lock to stop the liquid to leak out. We asked the nurses to please check with the doctor if this is correct, and if it is a new tube how feeding must be done via this tube and how to lock to tube. The nurses ignored the request to please check with the doctor what is going on. They made us feel incompetent, and again not heard at all. 3 hours passed with nurses talking behind our backs, my mother 12 hours without food or water offered to her. The one nurse said, that we must go home and phone the dietitian to sort out the PEG tube. The procedure was for the PEG tube in the hospital, but I have to phone the dietitian outside the hospital to come and sort out a hospital problem?????? The other nurse said, we must wait till the dietitians give a meal plan to my mom before they can sort out the tube and the lock which was missing. Hellooooo, my mom was on PEG Tube feeding for 16 months already, with a meal plan, we need the PEG Tube to be fitted correctly, not a dietitian or meal plan? The other nurse said doctor will come between surgeries, the other confirmed that even after this was said to us, doctor will only come to my mother @ 20:00 after his last surgery. Different stories between the nurses. I had to go and asked the sister in charge to phone the doctor with instructions. Not long after that, the doctor came and apologies for the mistake of not including the lock in the tube and fixed the problem. It is not the first time that the nurses have NO COMPASSION at all or any bedside manners with the patients. This is unexceptable if you as a patient is actually paying their salary, and they take an oath to care for the patients. Iʻm very disappointed in the nurses and sister of Ward G on floor 3 of Mediclinic George. Thank you to the doctor, who immediately helped us after we requested that he must be phoned.
Dr.P.Bezuidenhout. I do not recommend this man to anyone. He left me without food and drink for over 22 hours before my op.Not only did this operation cost Discovery some R163000 and me over R5000 it was a complete flop.Complete waste of time, pain and money.
Shout out to Shannon Majoke at reception for pre admissions yesterday! She was friendly, helpful with us completing my husbands forms. What a pleasure dealing with her.
Super impressed with the kindness and caring received from the Maternity Ward staff. Such a pleasant experience.
Great care, love and friendly across the board. Special mention for one of the hospital hostess, Lerato; excellent service. Nurses and doctors are wonderful. I am getting good care. Thank you for all the get-well soon messages from the hospital staff.
Excellent service at Casualties. I would like also like to comment the Security Guard working at Casualties - he is helpful and runs a tight shift there.
Unfortunately we had to visit the Er last night. The staff at the Mediclinic ER from the security to the Dr who helped us were amazing! So calm, gentle and kind- they really put us at ease. They made our son feel so comfortable and really turned an unpleasant situation around. Thank you everyone at Mediclinic George-keep up the great work. 10/10.
