Murchison District Hospital

Thank you doctors and nurses in the maternity ward for taking care of my wife.she had a difficulty with speaking English luckily some doctors speak French and were always assisting her until the day she gave birth. Great service and clean hospital. Congrats to the management.

The service at the surgical ward is extremely poor. My sister can't walk and the nurses refuse to help her go to the toilet.

If you're planning on giving birth and want to feel like you are in prison. This is the perfect place for you! First of all you are only allowed 1 you read that correctly ONE visitor per day for only an hour. On top of that you get lovely roommates- a few cockroaches. If you also like sugar in your cereal- don't count on getting it here ;. Also you don't get discharged that day because the doctor only comes and checks the baby the next day even if you are ready to leave same day you delivered cause you delivered at 3:30am you will only get to leave the next day. Rather go to Port Shepstone Hospital.

The best hospital when it comes to maternity. I has both my girls at Murchison hospital in 2020 and 2022 I received excellent service from day and night shift staff .they put all patients 1st thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Murchison Maternity ward

The staff and medical personnel are friendly and try to explain so you can understand, but oh,...... The wait..... I got there at 6h45 was past the sister and waiting to open a file at 7h20. there I sat waiting. the clerks are busy folding files and chatting - not helping patients. then the one disapeared, leaving one clerk to do the job. She came back after more than an hour with hands full of groceries. At this time it was almost 10h00. We were suppose to pass that section in an hour. The big waiting game. I was supposed to have a biopsy done, I left there at 16h30 only with an appointment to another hospital.

Some services are good. OPD is badly structured. Very sick patients should be seen first . The day I went there was no water in the area they don't even have staff to see to the water in the transport toilets and parking is a problem. Itz a hospital and some patients are really sick, how can you make them walk from right outside , there should be a drop off and pick up zone .

The assistance that patient receive is good but this is not followed up by good administration. The 1st medical report in respect of Injuries on Duty took longer than a week to get, this is suppose to be completed on the 1st day

I specifically didn't like the way the employees are treated in this facility...the misconduct of the management here needs intervention for from higher officials

Hospital very neat. Casualties can be jacked up abit not very patient friendly... staff vrendly and helpfull. Just wish there was better parking facilities----- this is a real problem...
