The bad 1. No shelter to house clients from the rain. 2. The systems was down for 2 hours issue can't be pinned down to the branch. The good Arguably one of the most efficiently run branch in Gauteng. All staff were very helpful... I spent almost 2 hours for the passport application for two children. Just book online, it's so convenient. Update. The kids' passports are ready for collection 7 days after the application. This is a great thing after they had said it will take 21 days. Bravo!

I went to apply for my Smart ID card as well as my passport for renewal. I arrived at 4:30 but you only have to be there at like 5:30 if you want to be first in line. They opened up at 8:00 on the dot and I completed the process within 1 hour. They were also able to pick up that I paid online for my passport 3 weeks ago! Everyone was fast and efficient. The cashier was a bit rude and unhelpful. But everyone else from security to general staff were good. When I left there at 9:00 there were less than 10 people in the line outside. I would recommend that if you're in the line and it's not moving at all for more than an hour to come back another time, that's typically when the systems are down or there's technical issues which impacts all branches, not just this one. And it's normally out the whole day. I will post an update on timeliness for collecting the passport and Id UPDATE: 6 days later got an email saying my passport it ready! wow!

Me, my wife and two boys had to go for our passports at this Home Affairs. It's really sad to see that the elderly and people with children have to stand on that sidewalk for a whole day. We stood on that sidewalk for 2 days and managed to get assisted on day 3. I would strongly suggest that Home Affairs Heidelberg make standing on the side walk safe by barakading the sidewalk. There were a few close accidents. I know that this slower than slow process of waiting to get inside is relentless and makes you angry, and National Home Affairs are to be blamed for this and not the guys at this office. National Home Affairs, please take responsibility and accountability for what you do wrong and get competent people to handle your systems and experts to streamline the process. Making an appointment online didn't benefit anyone who was in the queue today. When you get inside, then everything is smooth sailing, depending on loadshedding the SYSTEM, and I could see the frustration of the Home Affairs employees. Come on you can do better with our Tax money.

2023May: I had Excellent service. The system really works. If you get there early, you are fine. If you book online, even better. Great people there today.

Utterly useless - they have been off line since yesterday but couldn’t send out a general sms to people who had booked that they were experiencing the same issue today. Some people had come quite a distance for their booking - waste of time and petrol. Personnel are also rude and not helpful in any way.

They don’t start tending to the queue on time, at 8 am when the facility is supposed to be open. The second time I went there it was even raining but they still let us stand outside waiting for them to attend to us. We had elderly people in queue, mind you. Shameless stuff.

Very bad service. All the personal treat us so rude. We booked online. Our apointment was for 8 oclock. The people was standing outside in cold weather for hour. While there are chairs inside were we can sit. This is really bad service

Queued more than 6 hours outside. They were offline for about 2-2.5 hours. Bring the exact amount of cash, their card machine isn't working and they don't give change. They take photos inside, you don't need to bring photos with. There were 3 queues outside. 1 for ID and Passport applications, 1 for other documents like birth death, marriage certificates, and they both go east. The 3rd queue is for collections and it ran west from the door.

It doesn't help to make an online booking. Just a story of wait till 15:30, maybe we could have helped you. My booking was for between 14:00 and 15:00. If we didn't help you by 15:30 you must rebook. Useless, Useless. Oh sorry, Heidelberg home affairs.

My 3rd time making a booking for my id that I've lost and every time there's a problem .. systems are offline or the scanner ain't working or some sort of bull storry... Honestly it's poor management who's paying for my fuel and the time I'm wasting
