I went to apply for my Smart ID card as well as my passport for renewal. I arrived at 4:30 but you only have to be there at like 5:30 if you want to be first in line. They opened up at 8:00 on the dot and I completed the process within 1 hour. They were also able to pick up that I paid online for my passport 3 weeks ago! Everyone was fast and efficient. The cashier was a bit rude and unhelpful. But everyone else from security to general staff were good. When I left there at 9:00 there were less than 10 people in the line outside. I would recommend that if you're in the line and it's not moving at all for more than an hour to come back another time, that's typically when the systems are down or there's technical issues which impacts all branches, not just this one. And it's normally out the whole day. I will post an update on timeliness for collecting the passport and Id UPDATE: 6 days later got an email saying my passport it ready! wow!
The bad 1. No shelter to house clients from the rain. 2. The systems was down for 2 hours issue can't be pinned down to the branch. The good Arguably one of the most efficiently run branch in Gauteng. All staff were very helpful... I spent almost 2 hours for the passport application for two children. Just book online, it's so convenient. Update. The kids' passports are ready for collection 7 days after the application. This is a great thing after they had said it will take 21 days. Bravo!
I was at these offices today to renew my passport and also get a new smart ID. Got there at 07:30 and was out by 09:30. A few logistic issues, but overall pleasant experience from what I expected. The Heidelberg office earned my admiration today. Let’s hope my collection experience is as amazing! Update: The day of collection didn’t go as planned but atleast I got my documents. The system was offline and we waited for hours before we were helped. Overall not a great experience.
Your policy does not over write my constitutional rights. You can not insist I break the law, by instructing me to leave my fire arm in my vehicle because your policy states no fire arms allowed in the building. If you want a policy of no fire arms, then the law states that you will have a safe storage facility available.
Firstly the phones don't work.. Don't bother calling them. Then you arrive at the facility only to be told that the system is down. They can do nothing for you. Come back tomorrow. The rudest reception staff I have ever met in my life.
What a useless place. Staff is incompetent and let people wait outside in the sun and rain with no communication to people whatsoever. Standing in a queue and system forever offline.. not like we getting documents for free. Nice to have a job where you only work 30% of the time
If I could give no star I would. Do not waste your time at even making a booking Booking was for 11 Left at 12:30 after no movement and 10 people still ahead in the queue. Other people, without bookings, in the queue since 05:30 and not even near the door The security useless and rude!
Queued more than 6 hours outside. They were offline for about 2-2.5 hours. Bring the exact amount of cash, their card machine isn't working and they don't give change. They take photos inside, you don't need to bring photos with. There were 3 queues outside. 1 for ID and Passport applications, 1 for other documents like birth death, marriage certificates, and they both go east. The 3rd queue is for collections and it ran west from the door.
A lady named Caroline who is a receptionist is very rude and unprofessional. I went there at 5am to apply for a passport and the system was offline till 2pm. When it was time for us to get in she started insulting me and asking me where am i going with this passport... Mind you I'm 24 years old but she asked me that. After telling her that i am going for a vacation she then told me that she wont help me apply for a passport and should go to other home affairs.
No one picks up landlines and the cell number I phoned was picked up first time and said he will come back to me and 3days later nothing. And he are declining my calls. We are paying them its not a free service. Come on guys we're are South Africa going
