Amazing lodge, people and atmosphere. The food is good, the drinks and the included sherry in the room are great, and the views if the weather is nice are amazing. Bring something warm, since the wind is strong and even in the summer, the temperatures can get close to freezing at night.
The hotel's location is incredible and a must stop for a drink or meal for any day trip up Sani Pass, but unfortunately the hotel seems to have taken advantage of this status by turning the restaurant into what is effectively a tourist trap. The food was well below average and incredibly expensive for what it was. It also took nearly an hour for our very basic meals to arrive. The food was well below average and massively overpriced. R100 for a bowl of packet soup as in soup made from powder from a packet, R105 for a very small, previously frozen supermarket pie and a small portion of undercooked chips and R100 for very basic toasted sandwiches and a small portion of likewise undercooked chips. It also took nearly an hour for the food to arrive. Drinks were also very expensive. Stop for a expensive beer or glass of wine, but I definitely wouldn't recommend more than that.
This place is wonderful! It feels much like a traditional pub you’d find in the English countryside except beers are all in bottles, but with the incredible views looking east from the top of Sani Pass. The minestrone was delicious, as was the hearty bread we got with it. Do keep in mind that the food is first come, first served, so if you arrive later on a busy day, you might not have much or any? choice regarding what to eat. We were there in July, so it wasn’t warm enough to sit outside, but that would have been amazing in spring or fall! Paths just outside lead out to a spot where you can straddle the line between South Africa and Lesotho — fun pictures— and to sweeping views east into South Africa. This was a truly fun experience that topped off our day trip up to Sani Pass from Underberg. I’ll never forget it.
What amazing views, beutifull pub only issue was tourists prices for food, was almost shocked when I got the price for a supper was R462...max they should of costed the meal was 250 pp , always find out the prices and take note on what you spending on.
Was a bucket list thing to do and it didn’t disappoint! Amazing drive up the mountain pass and just such a beautiful winter adventure in the snow as we drove further into Lesotho. The pub was also great.
The staff, food and Superior Rondavels where I stayed are great. Everywhere is very comfy and warm. The rooms are quite pricey but the overall experience, especially as a result of the excellent staff is good.
Great place, I’ve been all over the world and this has some of the best views I’ve ever experienced, looking down the Sani Pass from the top really makes you appreciate the earth. The food and drink were both delicious and a very reasonable price, it would be easy for them to charge a premium to tourists but they didn’t at all. All the staff were native Basotho people but they all had great English
We stayed here after a long journey down from the South-African plains below. It offers some great views from up top. Although it might seem warm it can be very windy and cold outside. It has a nice pub and local restaurant so be sure to check it out. Not expensive to stay here.Location: 5/5
Always great to get up the pass successfully and have lunch at the top with an extra cool Maluti beer
Wonderful views Decent food and service Limited seating so if you arrive at lunch time you might have to wait because of all the tour groups
