Love the new place. Friendly and helpful staff members.
What the Turkish embassy did to me, is unforgivable. My wife and I were meant to travel to Turkey, she's South African and I'm not. I applied for my visa only to be told it would take about 8 weeks My wife's took less than 48hrs. Our trip was also about 2months away, so I thought surely the Visa would be out by then. About 2 weeks before our trip, which was probably 6 weeks after my application, I started reaching out to the embassy and they kept telling me that Visa application was still under review. I asked if there was anything I could do to fast track my application and I was told there was nothing. About a week before our trip I started getting worried. I would call the embassy twice a day, and receive the same cold answer. There was no offer to help and no sympathy whatsoever. I told them the trip and flights had already been paid It was all in the Visa application including flight details and hotel reservations but I got no help. Finally about 3 days before our trip, I decided to go to the embassy. Firstly, I was refused entry because I did not have an appointment, but after a scuffle with the security I was finally let in. I explained my situation to the lady who even had the audacity to say I'm the guy who has been calling everyday. She told me my visa was not out and she could not help. No sympathy, no desire to assist just cold hard no. And so my wife missed out on the trip. We managed to redirect our flights to somewhere else, but the money we had paid for the tour was all gone. I just find it hard to believe that a place like the embassy had absolutely no way they could have helped other than the fact that they just did not want to.
Turkey has improved its services to visitors tremendously. Since my last visit in 1999. It's transport system , guides on the street by young pleasant teenagers clearly marked. We're here to help. Unfortunately it's crime has also become more sophisticated. During my holiday in 1999. I was pick pocketed in the metro and robbed of allot of cash. This time round. Robbed again blind , by a middle aged well dressed gentleman, posing as a fellow tourist. He approached me and said that he was from Dubai and asked some general questions about turkey. Then asked me where I was from. I told him South Africa and he said he's actually visiting South Africa after leaving Turkey. He asked me if I had currency from South Africa that he could see. I took out some notes , which included US dollars and SA Rands. Before I could separate the US Dollars from the rands , he took all the notes from me . Right in front of me , with me seeing everything , not taking my eyes from his hands, he separated the us dollars from the Rands. In a matter of seconds he gave me back my Rand notes. This was a professional with smooth skills. I only realized the dollars missing the following day.
I have never dealt with a more rude person than Ezra at the Turkish embassy , she is rude and unhelpful
Ezra at turkish embassy is the most rude person I have ever dealt with.unfriendly and a condescending attitude.
There is no organized system. Its basically like a kindergarten of adults who just passing timing. No organization with appointments, no clear information. It's really just a blind leading the blind in there. 1 star is too much. Good luck to who ever goes there.
I have been trying to make an appointment to renew my passport for over a week now. I sent the necessary email to request an appointment but received no response whatsoever. I have been calling everyday to follow up and all i hear is "We will get back to you." yet no one bothered to call me or even tell me why it's taking so long to make an appointment. I must say i am really displeased.
I've been trying for the past 2 weeks now to get some info as I'm planning to travel to Turkey. The phone rings endlessly then goes on voicemail. Only today did I get someone from switchboard who tried to connect me to consulate services but same: no one was picking up the phone. When I tried again to get switchboard, it went straight to voicemail. I've sent 2 emails from the website but still no answer to this day. Edit: Finally got someone on the phone who spoke as if she was in a hurry. She kept trying to end the conversation whereas I was the one calling, not the other way around. Got an appointment to the embassy. Was met with a very cold staff who wasn't helpful at all and made no effort to understand what I was saying. Very disappointing experience, all in all.
My visit to the Turkish Embassy went extremely well. My appointment was dealt with in a concise manner. My consultant Ms Damla, was professional, helpful, and wasted no time in handling my query. No parking available on premises. Vehicles park on the narrow curb outside.
