Taaibos River Lodge is located in the acclaimed Welgevonden Game Reserve which is situated in the heart of the Waterberg Biosphere in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Welgevonden shares a boundary with SANP’s Marakele National Park. It is home to most of Africa’s famous wildlife species, with over 50 mammal species, including the big five and over 250 birds species. The topography is dominated by flat mountain tops with a high point of 1760 meters. These large open areas provide spectacular game viewing and birding opportunities. The quick changing landscape offers a wide variety of habitats and consequently a broad spectrum of bird and animal species.
Several unique features set Welgevonden apart, one of which is very low human density. The reserve is dominated in the north by spectacular sandstone cliffs and deep river valleys; contrasted by a southern area that is dominated by large expanses of open savannah grassland.
