Absolutely loved our experience at Tangala. The location was perfect; we saw elephants, giraffes, and more strolling just outside the camp. The safari guide and tracker were the best out there. We saw all the animals that we wanted to see, and on our last drive we saw the Big Five all in one drive! The staff were all completely wonderful and the food was amazing. I would absolutely recommend 100%!!
Had the absolute best time at Tangala! The rooms are big and authentic, but very basic; however, you're not here for the room!! The service is IMPECCABLE, the location is absolutely majestic, and the food, while way too much, is wonderful. Our guides, Respect and Fumani hoping I spelled that right, clearly have superhuman vision, and eyes in the backs of their heads. They tracked every single animal I wanted to see, led us to serene spots for morning coffee with giraffes, and evening drinks with a sunset view, and truly made our stay remarkable. I've been on a few safaris, and none were this personal and interactive. Rooms: There was a beautiful and functional mosquito net above the comfortable beds that were made twice a day, a very large shower with hot water, a big vanity sink, and a separate room for the toilet and smaller sink. The good sized closet has a safe with a key you're given on arrival. You do have to pay for WiFi, but it's just 100 rand for two users, and works well, considering you're in the bush and off-grid. Safety: There is a network of electrical wires and fences around the property to keep the big game out of the immediate vicinity. Nyala are always around, but they're gentle, and small monkeys occasionally get in, but they're not dangerous. Walkability: The paths in the camp are well-maintained! Food & drinks: Everything at Tangala is scheduled, which ends up helping you see more animals! There's a morning game drive with a stop for coffee/tea, followed by hot breakfast to order, and cold items as well, including home mad granola! Everyone goes to sleep in the middle of the day, after which there's high tea which was definitely enough to be considered lunch, consisting of some baked goods, fruit, salad, and something hot. Your dinner order is taken at high tea, and you're usually given two or three options. After the evening game drive, you have time to change for dinner, which is completely different every night, is always perfectly seasoned, but the portions are insane, considering you have to sleep immediately after dinner in order to wake up for morning game drive. I sometimes ordered just the sides for dinner, and that was a perfect portion for me. Noteworthy details: The watering hole behind the lodge is frequented by different amazing animals every day, and is worth checking out morning and evening! One night, the lion pride and an enormous herd of Impala had a stand off, another day, the entire herd of water buffalo came to wallow. Etc etc etc
Our group of six had a great time at Tangala! Karien, Bertus and the team provided top notch hospitality and dining. Benny, Smiley and Respect were the best game drive guides we could have hoped for. We saw the Big Five! Highly recommend!
We have just returned from a wonderful weekend in Tangala. First class venue, wonderful service and warm bushveld hospitality. We have spent a lot of time over the years in the bush but this was the best game viewing we have ever had, by far. The only negative is that the rooms are not air conditioned and if you visit in summer you may roast in your room. However, winter, spring & autumn would be perfect. Highly recommended. Thanks Bertus, Karien, Benny & Smiley. You are stars.
Tangala is a magical place, the facilities are great, the food outstanding and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel happy and comfortable! We recently got engaged at Tangala and now feel as though we are part of the family, it was unbelievable special!! The game viewing was incredible, Benny our guide and Witness our tracker went the extra mile to get great sightings and divulge their knowledge to us. Karien and Bertus Managers make you feel welcome and ensure you are well looked after. Thank you to everyone at Tangala, we loved our stay and can't wait to come back!!! Chris and Tate
We've been at the Tangala in April 2022. It was such a bless! It's a small cozy camp with authentic but comfortable tents. Both of the managers are very very friendly and always looked, that everything was right and cared for a really warm and familiar atmosphere. The area is also very nice to see lots of animals, we had such luck with the safari game drives, every drive was a pleasure also with our guides Respect and Fuman. Thanks a lot! There are surely other camps wich are cheaper and maybe with more luxury, but the reserve and the authentic stay made it great and we didn't missed anything!
We spent 3 days/2 nights at Tangala and it was incredible. The camp is beautiful and there are animals all around you. There is a small pool, which is lovely to cool off in when the weather heats up, and lots of space to relax either in your room or in the communal areas. The tent was fantastic, plenty of space inside with a large bed, arm chairs and good sized bathroom, even an outside deck! The food was plentiful and delicious. The safari tours were the best I experienced in Africa. The guides know the area so well, and the animals that live there. We saw zebras, elephants, giraffes, whole prices of lions up VERY close while they lazed in the sun, wild dogs with their puppies, hyenas, black AND white rhino, hippos, leopards, huge herds of buffalo, civet cats and more. Plus, the whole camp is solar powered, so you know you're minimising your impact on the local environment!
Thank u Tangala for one of the most amazing experiences ever! We were a group of 6, 4 of whom were first time safari goers - words can’t describe what an incredible time we had! The team at the lodge were friendly, informative and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The food was first class and plentiful, the tents were spotless and the beds were very comfortable. After speaking to the friends who have done safari, this was by far the most personal and exclusive experience. We were able to go off track and get very close to the animals. Will definitely return - loved every minute! Well done Tangala!
We have returned to Tangala for a third!!! Consecutive year bridging 2019/2020. And, as was to be expected, this experience again completelely not only met, but exceeded our expectations! We were welcomed by the entire staff as family. Everyone remembered us, from the lodge management through the great bar staff right through to the kitchen and the cleaning staff. “When friends become family” totally hits the nail on the head. To the actual experience, there WILL be a 4th time... and a 5th, 6th etc... Super service with perfect attention to detail. The rangers as well as the trackers are extremely knowledgeable and keep feeding the guests with information on the viewer fauna and flaura, as well as anecdotes, some also traditional, with a humorous flair. The range is enourmous, on each of our visits we were privileged to observe the full BIG 5. A great amount of other animals and birds were also seen and observed. The hospitality as well as the various menus were always fresh, innovative and new, also with various dinner settings. Great job done by the entire kitchen and hospitality staff. The accommodation offers everything which is required, and desired, for a great night in the bush, regardless of if it is in a tent or a bungalow... we tried both... All in all there is absolutely nothing to fault, and a ton to praise. Check it out!
It was hot. There were spiders. There were scorpions. ..tho I luckily never saw one lol...It rained on us one day...but I honestly dont think I would've changed it. The animals were RIGHT THERE!!! Arms length away. Awesome experience. Tracker Joe and guide Charlie were awesome. The whole crew was nice! The tent I was in, 2 I think, had a beautiful view. Overall amazing. Would do it again and with tangala!
