Amazing staff and friendly. So helpful and truly a great time was had even though it was a short stay. Not sure why the craft beer is the only option in the Mini bar but room service made up for it with deliveries of drinks when we called. Rooms: Really well heated and a comfortable size
Amazing hotel and without a doubt the most unbelievable staff we’ve ever encountered. We were going through a difficult time, and everyone at the Peech treated us with complete care, respect, thoughtfulness, and love. Special shout-out to Peter for just spreading pure love and positivity. We’re extremely grateful. If you stay there, please give everyone a hug from us!
Great hotel, staff helpful and friendly. Food v good. Lovely room . We thought the beds were comfy. Wifi reliable whilst we were there. We had 2 vegetarians with us and they had a good selection of mealsRooms: 5/5
Absolutely charming boutique hotel. Can't fault it. Our newly refurbished room was lovely, the staff friendly and welcoming. Lovely pool area and immaculate gardens. Informal restaurant serving breakfast and lunch possibly dinner too. Basalt serves a delicious tasting menu from chef James Diack from Thursday to Saturday. This will definitely be our 'go to' hotel in Johannesburg from now on.
I spent one night at the Peech Hotel. The room was very modern and clean with all the amenities that you'd expect from a hotel of this nature. Although some more storage options would come in handy. The bathroom was lovely and big with heated towel rails which is a nice addition. We had a lovely courtyard area which we could relax in. The two main reasons for not giving five stars are that 1. The WiFi was inconsistent if not completely unavailable from the room. We only got signal from the reception. 2. Our room was on the ground floor and looked on to a walkway. The visual block into our room were a small hedge of trees and bushes. This meant that passers by were able to see into our courtyard and room. Due to this we felt the need to close the blinds most of the time we were in the room for added privacy.
Dinner was very limited. Only one vegetarian option and it's such a small portion, you need to order a starter or else you will go hungry. The hotel is more interested in hosting a separate fine-dining restaurant than catering to its guests. The apple crumble dessert was absolutely tasteless, we sent it back without finishing it but still had to pay. Furthermore, dinner was extremely overpriced by South African standards. The beds are ROCK HARD. Like seriously, if we wanted to go camping and sleep on the ground, we would have done that instead of staying at a boutique hotel! We didn't get a proper night's rest at all and woke up with sore necks and backs. The wifi is extremely limited; they must not have range extenders throughout the hotel as it only really works at reception. It is incredibly spotty in the rooms and you have to reconnect every 30 seconds. All of the above are issues that cannot be blamed on loadshedding or other circumstances out of their control. The hotel could absolutely have ordered beds in the middle range of soft/firmness, installed wifi extenders, and put more effort into their Garden Restaurant menu/portions rather than primarily supporting Basalt fine dining. I raised these issues with the hotel staff but they just smiled and said they hope we enjoy our stay next time.
