A trip back in time to vaaljapies and bucket wells driven by a mule. Loved hearing about the Prinsloo family and the establishment of the farm house. Beautiful furniture and a glimpse into how difficult it was to bath, cook and store food all presented by an excellent guide.
Good venue especially for the littlies to see the history of transport from original ox wagons to open and closed horse and oxen carriages. 1800s house is in brilliant condition and all the house contents is well preserved. Overall the infrastructure is a little run down in terms of minor maintainance. Please take your own drinks and food there's no place to buy a cold drink or lunch as the restaurant is closed with no shop close by. Staff is very friendly and very helpful. All in all a nice morning out.
Wow this place is definitely value for money. We paid R30 per adult and walked around for 3 hours. It would have been more but we were on a tight schedule. There's so much to see here and it's kept so clean and lovely. I was honoured enough to spot an owl inside the building too. My parents felt quite nostalgic seeing all of the tractors and whatnot. It was well worth the stop. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.
It was a different experience. I would say it's very interesting to view all equipment used in agriculture within South Africa. It's a great location for a museum and all information was very helpful With signs explaining how old each object was. Alot of interesting extra facts present along with animals also present on the property.
Musuem with fascinating history of the boer war, South African farming as well as endless exhibit of coaches and various modes of transport and farming implements. Sadly the venue is not marketed or utilised to advantage.
Very nice! Had a pricked pear festival today. Very interesting.
Not what it used to be. Although it is clean. The exhibits and buidings are looking rather tatty. So sad. I guess it needs to be marketed to bring some money in.
A day out on the farm is like a week on holiday, go for 'n picnic or walk through history
Quit surprised at this museum. The place has improved from my last visit. The museum is neat and proper organised, however the description of the items could have much more information. The grills of the picnic site could improve on cleanliness and the ablution facilities needs a proper maintenance plan.
Very clean. Beautiful grounds. Cheap food, definitely recommend
