Arizona Home Defense

I had the privilege to receive Virgil's great instruction for the handgun defense course. His in-class presentation was detailed and concise. My questions were respectfully addressed and were open for further clarification if I required them. While at the shooting range Virgil did a great job at building my confidence by providing constructive insight to areas where I could improve while encouraging my better habits. Overall, Virgil was a great guy to be around and better yet to learn from. For Arizona Home Defense, I was very appreciative of the inclusive course schedules (, I'm a Canadian snowbird).

I chose AZ Home Defense as my go-to source for firearms training and certification for one reason: These guys are combat veterans who have brought years and thousands of hours of military training and real gun-fight experience to the civilian sector to help us be prepared to win the battle at home (whatever that battle may be). Genuinely friendly, deeply personal, and American through and through. If you're like me, and forever grateful for the men (and women) who have stood watch across the globe to protect us and our families, then do what I do and support veteran owned businesses. Not only that, but the citizens of the greater Phoenix valley are very lucky to have access to these professional gun-men, and the opportunity to learn from them and their experiences is a privilege that even the most novice of shooters should take full advantage of. -Semper Fi Forest Oates

My first class changed my life! They answer the phone at all hours and make the class not only incredibly informative but also enjoyable and entertaining to help us retain what we learn. Every experience I've had with this business and the people has been stellar. It's obvious why they have all 5 star reviews - I'm so glad I found them!

Had a great time, done concealed carry and basic handgun there. Virgil is an excellent teacher, and has a ton of good information. 5/5, will definitely be back.

Awesome! That is the one word that describes my experience attending the Basic Handgun Course on Saturday, February 4th with Virgil (primary instructor) and Skylar. Both Virgil and Skylar are former Marines had have years of experience with weapons. I would consider myself to have intermediate minus knowledge of shooting (grew up around weapons, served in the military and have shot off and on for many years). I’ve taken a couple of professional, private lessons but this was by far the best training I’ve received! The professional environment, course materials including slides and handouts, the delivery pace of the presentation and overall welcoming feel created a very positive and comfortable experience. After the classroom portion, we drove to the range (about 15 minutes away) for the live fire portion. The tips, techniques and positive comments - coupled with their patience – resulted in considerable improvements I made during the range session. “Slow is Smooth and Smooth is Fast”  I appreciated the high emphasis on safety that was emphasized throughout the day. Highly recommend this course!!!!
