They took the down payment and returned it to my husbands ex wife. it plainly stated on the memo for modular her name was not on the check. the boys home would not finance. They informed us they had to give the down to her . like I said her name was nowhere on that check. They are crooks

I was happy with Baird's when I started the process of purchasing my first home to be placed on property near my parents. Once we closed on the construction loan, things quickly went south. Mr.Charles Rickard constantly bad mouthed my lender, which made me feel awkward. I am only assuming it was because we didn't use their lender. I kept getting penny and dime charges for things that I was under the assumption were included in the price that was agreed upon for my house. I understand unexpected things come up (my father is a builder, and knowing what I know now I wish I would have just saved the money to have him build my home). They did this frequently. We were on a deadline, or I was going to have to sign another years lease to stay where I was at, and was assured that it would be closed on and move in ready by that time. (We started the process in October and it was supposed to be finished in late May early June). It was not closed on, as again Baird's kept changing the contract, needing more money for this etc. Mr.Rickard gave me the keys, and stated that it would be ok to go ahead and move in, again, being a first timer, BAD idea. We closed on our home in mid July. I then began receiving calls from Mr.Rickard that I owed Baird's a 1,000 for "rent" because I had been living in the home ON MY PROPERTY that hadn't been closed on due to their PROCRASTINATION. Here we are almost two years later, the company they sent out at the time of construction to do my roof did not use and sort of underlayment under my shingles, and half of my shingles blew off during our most recent storm. So, here we are now stuck with having to get someone trustworthy to re-do the horrendous job that Baird's did the first time around. I can not say it enough, as nice as they seem in person, RUN! I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.

They ripped me off for $8,000 in 2008 when I bought a home from them. I went in to sign a loan for $86,ooo and they had borrowed another $8,ooo I didn't know abt, and when I asked if I could have a receipt or if they could list where they spent my money.. I was told legally they didn't have to tell me how they spent my money. The guy who sold me my home, Dan Manley, disappeared after closing on my home. So I figure he got away with theft.
