Truly a wonderful brewery—the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the owners are fantastic people, the beers are unique and they often have live music and/or a food truck on Fridays and Saturdays. The patio space is comfortable, and includes a gas fire pit, which helps to expand the smaller space.
This is a great place to gather with a couple friends (assuming they like barrel-aged beers or sours, as those are James’ specialties). Play some darts or a board game, or just hang out in the sunshine; Barbarian is always a good place to unwind among friendly people.

If you're a fan of big beers, sours orbarrel aged brews you really should check these folks out.
They have a fairly extensive tap list of their beers as well as at least one cider on hand.
They do not serve food at either location but don't mind if you bring yours in with you.
I would say this is one of the best breweries in the state and is certainly one of the best in the valley. Their beers are clean, well flavored, and absolutely fit the style profiles.

We love the beer at Barbarian! The bartenders are great too. We always feel welcome even if we show up right before closing for a quick drink.

What a fantastic surprise this place is! I have driven past the Barbarian Brewing location on Chinden more times than I can count, but it was until a few days ago that I actually popped in with a friend of mine that suggested we go there. I was shocked! Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, and the most innovative beers I have seen in Boise. d
Also, as a side note; who would not want to drink beers with their buddy at a place named Barbarian Brewing?!?! By Crom what a cool name for beer company!!
