Big Lots

I love Big Lots, and stores like it. There's a certain thrill to be had looking around these places. I rarely enter a big lots with a specific idea of what I want in mind. Usually you just wander around and marvel at the strange products they sell. Like non-alcoholic monster energy beer. That being said, this particular location is usually understaffed. Be ready to wait in line since there will likely be only 1 open register.

For me, Big Lots is step back in time to the old Woolworth's, Bradlees or Caldors, only without the mystique or quality in the variety of goods for sale. I wander through Big Lots (because I am asked to tag along and not my own volition mind you) in wonderment as to who shops here? and why such a place exists?, brick and morter?, especially in today's "Amazon-shipping is free-get it shipped directly to your home in two day" world we live in. Having said this, I do understand that there are a lot of people who shop and love Big Lots and the value that this establishment provides... just not my cup of tea.

Always find something to buy. Will stay away from outdoor Christmas lights. They failed before Christmas. The store was good about taking them back.

The majority of employees here are flippin' fabulous people who seem to genuinely want to engage and make the shopping experience fun, or at least unsucky. Even most of the shoppers are cool and engage in a bit of small-talk or opinion-offering. This is my fave Big Lots store in CT, hands-down.

The cashier insisted on taking a phone call when there were 4 people in line, he was the only one open and there was another employee standing at the end of the checkout lane (maybe just came in from a break). My point is that this cashier could ask the second employee to take this call so he could ring this line of customers out.. the guy infront of me was starting to loose his patience and I was just laughing because we both agreed; why is this cashier being so adamant about taking this phone call when he could just ask for assistance to ring is out.
