We ate lunch here on a quick drive through the area. The food is good but it is the view that stole the show. I highly recommend one of the furthest spots on the porch off shoot if you can as this spot has the best view in my opinion. Also their locally made root beer is a must have. Amazing place!
UPDATE: We loved this location when we had lunch here a year ago so much that we scheduled a trip just to come back and stay here. Huge mistake! We stayed in the part of the inn that is across the street from the restaurant. I had read some negative reviews but figured we'd be fine as we just needed a place to sleep in between exploring. No sleep to be had though as the rooms provide no noise insulation whatsoever. The road was horribly busy and loud. I can't even imagine what it would be like in peak season. In addition, I could also hear everything the neighbors said on both sides of us at normal voice levels. Just as if they were in the room with us. Very uncomfortable! My Husband and I whispered for any sense of privacy. I even had earplugs and still couldn't sleep. We had 2 nights booked here but left half way through night 2 in disgust. If you are looking for a peaceful escape to nature this place is not it!
We also ate at the restaurant. The hostess was so rude! She was also apparently assisting our server so we got to experience her attitude 2 ways. I had a burger. It seemed frozen and was tasteless. The view on the deck of the restaurant and the chairs in the river are a great compliment to the beauty offered in Bug Sur! It is just a shame that this place kills the mood with the horrible service and rooms. Such a shame!

An excellent place. Rooms -- are Rustic yet posh. Right next to the river makes for a serene view. There is a patio outside the rooms facing the river and the trees.
Restaurant -- Picnic chairs over the river make an excellent place to have your meal which you can get packed from the attached restaurant. Good collection of vegetarian options available.

The food was terrible in the restaurant. We ordered the tri-tip sandwich and the ribs. Both were cold and flavorless. Fries must have been sitting for hours. The cheese on the sandwich had yellow-like it had been unrefrigerated. The ribs must have been reheated then lathered with the sauce to mask them. The waitress (Lorinda- who said she was the manager) was not helpful, and when we complained, she said she would tell the cook. No offer was made to reduce the price. I drove from Carmel to there for an early dinner, and very disappointed. Will not return; I'd advise others to seek somewhere else to eat.

We went to visit the inn in the off season. There was little to no traffic, which is good cause there's not a lot of places to park. I couldn't get any cell service though, so make sure you come prepared. We went to sit in the chairs by the river, which was the best part imho. It's a wonderful place to experience the river with family, but you need to be prepared to be isolated from civilization.
