The animal shelter used to be a sorry state. There were always animals in the hall and always a smell there. Once the sheriff's office took over it has improved tremendously. They now have little cots that they sleep on. They don't sleep on the floor. There are no animals in the hall no smell. They have someone there to help teach them how to be a good dog or a good cat. We went because our dog passed away. We gave them the many things we had so they can now share with the animals there.

Went there twice so far, looking for a small dog to adopt. Looking for a comfort dog to love. The staff is amazing. Pleasant and helpful. Interested in one up to 10-12 lbs. tops. Cannot have a big dog in our park.

I've been to this shelter quite a few times. We tried to adopt a dog here but they have a lottery for dogs that have just been taken in as strays. We had to drive all the way down here to watch someone else win the lottery for the dog, then some months later that dog ended up back in the shelter. So clearly the lottery is not a good way to determine the best home for an animal. Not that they care. The staff that work tend to be extremely rude. Not all of them but most of them. I had made organic dog treats to bring in for the dogs. We fed them and spent time with the overlooked dogs. It was not a problem. I go back a few weeks later to do the same thing and one of the staff confronts me very rudely about bringing in the treats... The worst part about this place is they claim to be a "no kill" shelter, but that is a lie. If dogs are in there for a long time they euthanize them. I'm not talking about mean dogs either that can't recover. I'm talking about sweet and playful dogs. Theyre not running out of room, there are always kennels open. No excuse. This place is truly a disgrace. I would think the sherriffs department could do better.... I guess not. Shame on the people who support this.

The first lady I spoke to was a doll. The people at dispatch=bag of unpleasant. I get that your job sucks, but people call you for help. Not to be talked to like they're trash or they're an inconvenience to you. I'm watching animal cruelty happen and you're telling me "we'll get to it when we get to it". Your lack of training and professionalism is disgusting. You'll get further handling it yourself. Apparently they have bigger things to handle. 🖕

Didn't have a good experience. I had to take a friend to see her dog for the last time because the dog was being put to sleep the holding time quarantine the dog was supposed to be 10 days they put the dog down within 3 days of taking the dog it was very devastating for us. She called the manager twice trying to find out exactly what day the dog was going to be put to sleep no one ever returned her calls. And it saddens me that the dog had to be put to sleep and go alone. Just heartbroken over the situation. However I also understand when you have a dog you as the owner are responsible for the dog never put your dog in a situation that you don't think your dog will handle well. It was just very sad for all of us. My heart went out to the dog.
