Charlie B's Restaurant

I had breakfast here the other day and it was excellent. The service was spot on and friendly and the food was delicious. I had corned beef hash that was home made, not from a can, and delicious. And some poached eggs with hollandaise sauce. Really to quality breakfast for A very reasonable price. Breakfast for two totalled less than $30. If I had more time in Stowe, I would visit Charlie B's for lunch and dinner as well.

My friend and I stopped into Charlie B’s this evening for a drink. We were hesitant because the place was so quiet. There were 2 couples sitting at the bar. We both ordered a chocolate martini. One of the other couples said to the bartender that they had never had one. After mixing our drinks there was quite a bit left in the shaker. We thought he was putting it in a smaller glass to give to us after we had a few sips of ours BUT instead he gave the remainder of both of our drinks to the other couple to taste. We were astounded. He should have topped off our drink instead of giving the rest to the other couple. We paid for the drinks and they got to sample our drinks. Totally unacceptable. Now we know why the place was quiet. The drinks were $9.75 each plus tax.

This restaurant has seen better days. I ordered the special of Chili for $18 and asked about the serving size. I was told it was a large portion, enough to fill you up. After all, it was an entree. So, when it came out, it was nothing more than a deep plate of chili, about 1/2" deep! Then they forgot the cheese. The rice they put on it was cheap white rice, not the rice pilaf advertised in the menu. Overall, the portion sizes are very small (my wife's entree salad was quite small as well) and the restaurant overall seems to be very poorly managed. Lots of new employees. Lots of turnover. My wife even reported that the handle in the ladies' restroom sink had fallen off and she had to place it back on to wash her hands. Very poor restaurant and very poor value. Find another restaurant. There are many in Stowe.

Staff is friendly & attentive. The food is good. I would recommend.

Large Cobb Salads, smallish cups of chowder & bisques but flavorful. Menu reads locally sourced and healthily prepared. None of the entrees in our group tasted especially noteworthy. Not awful, but not memorable. Family owned & check out the pictures and ski memorabilia.
