Cherry Creek Campground

Pretty nice, not many mosquitos. Was able to make it into camp on my heavily loaded street bike without a problem, YMMV. Was very quiet until a loud group of kids came in at midnight. That's their parents' fault, not the campsite. Counted two bathrooms and trash sites... pretty decent for such a small site! The road there is pretty dark and windy with deer in the area... I recommend grabbing food/supplies from town beforehand, especially in the evening.

Beautiful ponderosa pine and oak forest campground along a seasonal creek. There are nine or ten campsites, two pit toilet bathrooms, and four bear-proof trashcans (although there has been no sign of bears there during our visit). No drinking water is available, you have to bring your own. Suitable for tents and smaller RVs, although the dirt road into the campground is a little bouncy. We brought in a pop-up camper with our very low clearance soccer mom SUV with no issues. Of course not all of the spots are good for trailers or RVs, and it's not always easy to turn around in all the spots, so I recommend parking by the trashcans and scouting out the four or so upper sites. Overall, Cherry Creek is a beautiful, small, quiet and free US Forest Service campground.

Quiet, pretty, hiking trail that goes along the creek and is very nice. Two decent vault toilets, and garbage containers. But no water. Turnover is high, most people stay only one night.

Love this place.... It holds good memories from many family picnics. It's close to Silver City and easy to get to. It is especially beautiful when the creek is running. We also like the simple hiking trails attached to each end of the picnic grounds. You are bound to enjoy a visit here.

We found this campground last minute. Sites are large,clean and quiet and free!!
