Out of the way and a little out of this world! Yes, it IS difficult to get here. Yes, Hwy15 is a hard but pretty drive. Yes, this is a scenic and beautiful location with interesting historical sites. Stop in to the Visitor Center first to see the artefacts and say Hi! to the nice folks working there. All that being said, we would like to thank Rangers Blake and Andrea for making this a very informative and interesting visit. We can say that this is on the list of our favourite National monuments. Dependent upon your age and fitness, the hike to the cliff dwellings could be a little strenuous but take some water and take your time. It is well worth the visit. On your way out, be sure to stop by the lower Scorpion and see the Mogollon cliff house and the pictographs. Then stop by the visitor center and check out the interesting stuff there! We loved this place.

A gorgeous area to explore. Be prepared for winding, steep mountain roads. Fill your tank before entering to avoid concerns later, especially for vehicles with less than optimum fuel efficiency.

Stayed at Mesa Campground; visited the cliff dwellings and Silver City library. All was wonderful! Campground had electric and water. No cell or wifi signals. Beautiful view of lake. Lovely 2 1/2 mile walk around the lake.

It's pretty to drive through but really rough--w ton of twists and turns. And the locals drive 10+ mph under the speed limit in good conditions so I'm not sure why the posted limits apply. Expect to add 15 to 30 minutes to your driving time if you're going all the way through for any purpose.

Went to the Gila, it's good to be here. Long ride and all the hot springs are closed at night. I'm in serious need people, the good ol' days. It wasn't permitted to enter then, We soaked. Partied, and left when we were done. Took our trash. Usually Lost something from your wardrobe though. I could have soaked , but it was way cold all around.
