We hiked Hermit Peak in late May, the weather was pleasant to hike. I took us 4 hours to hike up the peak. The downhill descent was relatively easy so it took us about 2 hours. It is a moderate hike if you used to hiking. There were a lot of campers camping out probably because it was Memorial day weekend. We could not locate the cave of the Hermit. Great location of hikers, photographers and outdoorsy people. I would recommend it.

Perfect BLM spot! Clean vault toilets/ wide open spaces (some with fire pits) plenty of juniper for privacy. 14 day limit. Some reviews say they can occasionally get a whiff of the neighboring landfill, but its been 6 windy days so far and we haven't smelled anything. Enjoy!

It’s not often, in my experience, that I meet overachievers. I can say that Joshua a Ranger at this office is simply the best. i came in looking for dispersed camping site with specific characteristics and I walked out completely prepared with maps, directions and suggestions. Thank you Joshua you’re one in a million!

Is one of the best spots if you want to escape from Albuquerque for the weekend. Everything out here so green and there are plenty of trails and lakes. During the weekends it does tend to get pretty busy.

One of the best slightly hidden gems in the Albuquerque area. An hours drive and you go back in time. Great views, great people and wonderful crafts. Worth the drive.
