A wonderful "back to nature" destination! We thoroughly enjoyed the drive to the top. The road is in great condition and the views are spectacular. The picnic areas are clean and well maintained. All in all a wonderful trip that we can't wait to take again!! And if you have 4x4, be sure to take the "unimproved" road down the backside!! Gorgeous drive and an amazing cave about 6 milea in! That road is rough though and you will need good ground clearance. So worth it!

Sandia Crest - Remarkable views of Albuquerque and the surrounding areas, wonderful hiking trails for those who like to be outside. Temperature at the peak was 20 degrees F cooler than the 92 degree temp in Albuquerque, so it was pretty refreshing. Drive up to the crest was very sinuous since it was switchback after switchback so if you are prone to be carsick, be aware.

Absolutely breath taking views atop Sandia Peak! Loved it. We took the team up to hike down. We love to hike but had time constraints. While the trails are maintained the signage is lacking. When one is nearing the end of a long hike and come upon multiple trail forks without signage is muddies the experience. Not to mention it increases the danger.

I live here and love it. Many birds and squirrels and bears and lots of other critters. No flowers yet except yucca--it's dry, please be careful no fires.

Beautiful mountain top view. Tramway ride is fun. Hiking trail is scenic and has different range of difficulty. Ibis fun to see the vegetation changes from the bottom to the top.
