Ferry ride From Circle Line. Enjoyed the full City tour on Hudson river. New York

I hope to take a tour at some point in the future, it looked like fun when my wife and I were in NYC. The ticket booth and building behind it are off the Circle Line V, formerly the warship USS Phenakite in WW2. These were off the warship's bridge and were the pilot house and wardroom. The rest of the ship is hiding in a creek in Kentucky. Both the ships captain and helmsman are still living. I do not know what the long term on those facilities are since the Maritime Museum is undergoing renovations and no one ever calls back. The ship's drawings from 1902 still exist also to aid in reconstruction of the vessel., Since the sides are armored and it's in fresh water the signs will likely be up there awhile yet.

I did a sail on the Pioneer, which is a historical ship that's technically part of the South Street Seaport museum. You just get the tickets via Circle Line. I *loved* the sail and would go again. Too bad they only sail through the end of October. The Pioneer is an actual sailboat, though they do have a motor for maneuvering around the dock areas. Since it's part of the Museum, they encourage people to help with raising the sails and to ask questions about how things work. Or, you can just enjoy the trip. We did a circle, going past Brooklyn, the Statue of Liberty, and Governor's Island. It's not the best for taking pictures since the boat is always moving. And when there are choppy waters you really feel it. I never felt unsafe, but I am glad I brought a raincoat and shoes that did not mind getting a bit wet. If you get the chance to go, I suggest going on one of the evening sails. Watching the sun set in the West is breathtaking.

What a find! Did the Statue of Liberty tour. Had no interest in fighting the massive crowds for the actual SoL ferry, so this was an awesome alternative b/c it was free with the New York pass. The only drawback is that you don't get to go on the island but who cares if you're not actually going into the statue (you must book that way in advance). They drive close by and give you lots of time for pictures. Plus, you get a full water tour of lower Manhattan too. Tourguide was excellent. NOTE: Some people told us to take the Staten Island ferry if you want to see the SoL free. Not a bad idea but if you have the New York pass, this one is free and you have a tour guide, plus better and closer views of the SoL.

Took a ride on the Zephr last night. It was really bumpy and rocked all night, making it difficult to walk and dance. The ship was very warm and I had to ask the staff to open the doors by the DJ booth. The DJ played requests and all kinds of music. Dance floor was a good size for at least 45 people. The first floor has a bar with 2 tenders and serve generous size drinks. There is a sitting area on the sides booth style. Up the stairs is another bar with seats and a small area to dine. Parties are served food, which was what a group of munching on- This was a tour group put on the ship to see the waterside of NYC. This was the BEST view and closest ever to Lady Liberty.
