Gray Line New York Sightseeing

We do not usually use city bus tours and certainly wish that we had not done so last September for our first visit to New York. Our experience of Gray Line was a disgrace for a company which has operated for so long and in such a famous city. Our first impression did not bode well as we had to waste an unnecessary amount of time in a short queue at Port Authority with an unpleasant, slow member of staff in order to redeem our online voucher for a crazy amount of paper tickets. Bus stops were not obvious, buses irregular and employees on the buses were at times hard to understand even for us as native English speakers. Employees kept asking for tips, which was very off-putting, and their commentaries were amateurish. At one point the bus simply stopped en route and did not continue to the stop for the boat trip, which we had to find ourselves on foot with no helpful information from staff. Worse was to come - we were sold a 3-day ticket only to find out by total chance that our Saturday night tour and all of Sunday's buses had been cancelled unannounced for a Jewish festival. We did receive a refund promptly through the online agency we had used, for which we were very grateful, but this could not make up for the impact on our stay in New York and the negative impression we were left with at the start of our US travels.

enjoyed the tour package, but they stop there route and don't tell you until they say well this is as far as we go. Left us on the other side of Manhattan having to walk for over an hour to get back to where we wanted to return to . The flyers times don't tell you things like that

Avoid using their ticket office at Planet Hollywood, the girl was unpleasant & disinterested in helping us as her iPad scanner was or if battery and he couldn't find a charger. After some debate and speaking to a manager on her phone we were eventually given a ticket. Did the downtown tour - didn't get off to the best start as first bus broke down and had to get on a second bus. Streets were busy and took around 2.5 hours to do the full circuit. Worth doing to see major sights in short space of time.

Great bus line. Enjoyed the trip to Washington from New York. One day trip. Excellent tour guide and a clean bus. The tour guide was multi lingual. Very knowledgeable about our trip passing the several States to Washington. Will try them again.

I don't understand how these reviews are somehow worse than Big Bus. This company is SO MUCH better than the alternative. They are very pushy for buying tickets at the street corners, but other than that i had no issues. I've had to wait ONCE for a bus but usually there are 2 or 3 lined up. The tour guides are locals that know all the important facts as well as little 'fun facts' that you wont hear on any other tour. Will definitely buy from this company again. Should've this time...but live and learn.
