With fairly heavy woods for a campground, and plenty of lakeside spots, this is one of Kansas's nicer state part offerings. Running water bathrooms with shower stalls bring it to the next level, and the grounds are well maintained. Wild onions and flowers are everywhere. However, depending on the recent weather, the lake itself can be very cloudy/muddy. All in all, an excellent option for camping in the Wichita area.

I love this state park! Fantastic Trails suitable for all levels of hiking. The cabins are warm and welcoming and provide a perfect place for Less rustic camping opportunities. The park is clean and well maintained and the trails provide a wide variety of use of the lake, nature, wildlife, and the forest.

Great place to camp with camper/rv. Some of the old shower facilities definitely need updating.

An absolutely beautiful area. The cabin was perfect in every way, except the beds could be a little more comfortable. The views from Eagles Nest cabin are awesome. Hard to believe that you're in Kansas.
Would be nice to have some amenities like a restaurant or convenience store close by. There is a Bait and Tackle in Toronto (corner of 54 and 105), but their selection is lacking, and their customer service skills are even more lacking. But, it is small town Kansas, and I'm not going to hold the town's lack of amenities against the state park.
We will be back for sure. With the kayaks, Mt bikes and fishing gear, and stay a few more days.

I visited the lake to explorer, and hopefully take night low light photos. I found it very accessible and easy to navigate around. It's out of the lights far enough to have a great background for star gazing. The roads allowed me easy access to the shore areas and I was able to walk, with flashlight, to the areas I needed for exclusion.
