A very cool place. Paths that are paved & not paved. A lot of awesome looking places to fish. Some remote some not so much. Nice & friendly people to meet & greet. Tree's lots. Lots of places appear they may or may not have edible mushrooms & asparagus etc. I'm not sure tho, SO MAKE SURE U HAVE THEM VARIFIED!!!!!!! Tons of ducks & geese & deer & rabbits, I saw a couple a pheasents, some cardinals, blue jays etc. There are a lot of bridges & signs full of history. A very interesting place to go for a nice long walk. Also very easily accessible for wheelchairs & get along scooters. It is a very mellow place, Plus there's employees on the job around, not to mention all the decent people. If you are walking be sure that your up for a nice long walk or just go so far & turn back, else you'll wind up way out there. For instance I walked in off Central & wound up on N. Maize. I then had to walk around the park & other buildings & housing to get back where I parked. I thought I knew the place fairly well but I've got lost a couple times, what I mean is a little displaced, so be cautious. I'm planning hiking & fishing the area. Just know where your at. & have a graceful & peaceful walk or hike. I suggest bringing a bottle of water & maybe a snack. ENJOY!!! :) PS: This is a very historic place, with lots of history, a lot of which is placed on signs. PS: If you keep the chit chat on the down low ya will have a much better chance at spotting wildlife.

Very peaceful place and nice hiking paths. Conveniently located for a pleasant lunch break. Excellent place to stop to avoid the 10 minutes of rush hour traffic at Wichita's busiest times, letting all 30 vehicles go by.

This park is wonderful! It makes you feel like you're in a forest. I was lucky enough to see eight deer in a row jumping through the trees. Perfect place to take your dog for a walk!

LOVE taking long walks in this park! It's a respectable size, not huge. It has a couple of paths paved and several dirt paths too if you want to take chances, referring to the fact that I am very sensitive to Poison Ivy/Oak and it does grow off the main paths as it does nearly everywhere. But the main paved paths are very smooth, not grown over and nicely cleared away form the path. Scenery is very nice and it's just relaxing to walk around. Bicycles are not allowed, so you shouldn't be bothered by that. Pets are welcome. People of all ages come through the park, but everyone has been pleasant if they were not keeping to themselves while jogging. Most like to show off their dogs when they bring them. Many benches, a very nice wooden bridge over a creek. (Cowskin Creek I believe). I go there often to stay out of the sun and have a shady walk in the trees.
