DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse

Wonderful variety of shoes but waaayyy too expensive. I wanted to buy my one year old some shoes here since she's already walking but I decided $35 for a pair of baby shoes without hard soles was way too expensive. I searched eBay and I bought the same pair of shoes for $3!!! Even their clearance section is too expensive. Thanks but no thanks.

Two stars are for one woman who was present Saturday evening. I placed a pair of sized 8.5 boots on hold and wasn't able to get back in time before the store closed on Sunday to pick them up. I went to the store this evening around 7pm and walked straight to the register and gave the woman my name and asked for the boots. The box was sitting in plain sight, with my name tag still taped to it. I know it was my box because the way I'd packed the boots Saturday evening was such that the top/front right corner of the box wouldn't close all the way. Without ever looking at it, even though I pointed right at it, the woman behind the register then tells me that specific pair of shoes was damaged. She claimed that the boots were purchased and returned because the customer wasn't pleased and damage happened. I was skeptical but went to look for another pair. She did not ask me what size I needed, but told me I could order some off the internet just before I walked away. When I came back to the register, a second employee, who was no longer on the clock, was behind the register. I again asked to see the boots in the box behind the register and both employees (the second one without even looking up) said, "Those are damaged." When shoes are placed on hold for 24 hours, they cannot be purchased. There is no way for a customer to have purchased and worn the boots out at night (which would have been last night) as the two employees told me and have them tear and then return them all within 24 hours (between Sunday night and Monday morning) of the time my hold was lifted. It was clear at that point that the employees were refusing to sell me the boots I placed on hold because they were holding it for a colleague. It was the last 8.5 on the shelf. They told me they would be unable to show me the boots because they could not sell them any way. I informed them that I was fine with them not selling them to me, but I would like to see the damage. The woman behind the register, who was there Saturday evening when I placed them hold, continued the story about how they were damaged and so she couldn't bring them to me to inspect. At this point I realized they were going to keep the boots for whichever coworker intends to buy them and just decided to purchase a pair that I don't really want, but need for an event. I will never spend any more money in the store, especially knowing that my size is one that store employees will make unavailable to me as a consumer at will if they or their friends like the shoes. Customer service was terrible, and I'm beyond disappointed at the lack of transparency and dishonesty. Neither of the employees could make eye contact with me during the exchange about the boots.
