Once the home of the Carnegie family, now you find wild horses and osprey nesting here. Cumberland island is worth the effort to get here. The only way on is by ferry boat. You must bring all food, water, etc with you and pack your trash off the island. The park service has created a diy mobile walking tour which gives you some history of the island.

This is a very cool place to walk to on Cumberland Island. We loved walking around and seeing what is left of this huge home. There was a fantastic view of the marsh from the front lawn, and it’s also a good place to spot some of the islands ferrel horses.

See Ospreys nesting on top of the chimney, taking turns feeding the young. Bring your binos for closeups. We played ultimate frisbee on the expansive lawn. You'll also see wild horses. Good place for lunch. There are bathrooms

Very educational. Had a good time. They overload the boat. I was very concerned about that.
