An historic area with many residential and commercial structures dating to before the Civil War. Many specialty stores and unique restaurants. Some houses open for public tours. Note the free "DOT" shuttle has two routes through the historic area with buses arriving about every 15 min ... Very convenient for tourists but not a substitute for a guided tour. We took one of the horse-drawn carriage tours departing from the Hyatt Riverside - recommended.

Very beautiful - not only the historic homes and buildings but the moss draped oak trees. The trolley tour was interesting. Great food in the area also. Parking is a problem. The parking garage was full and it was hard to find a spot. A good thing about the trolley is you can park in their lot and ride getting off and on all day but only on the route.

We're loved touring the historic district of Savannah! We wandered around River St., which was so neat being able to see so much in it's original state! However, it's not so wheelchair friendly. We had a difficult time manoeuvering our adult daughter around the brick and cobblestone streets. We even had one of the front tires come off the rim. Fortunately, there was a city employee close by who had a screwdriver that they were able to put it back on with. We also went around many of the squares, The Savannah Bee Co., Leopold's ice cream shop, The Lady & Sons, The Savannah Candy Kitchen, just to mention a few places. We only had 2 days to explore, but were able to get quite a bit in!

It's beyond everyday beauty. History comes alive on every willowy-treed corner. The trolley tour was worth the price. The peach cookies are unlike anything I've tasted. The walk along the channel is worth seeing, as well. This might be one of the most unique places I've visited (and I've visited 41 states).

This is my favorite vacation spot! I love the architecture, the history, the local community, and all of the shops and various arts. This is a perfect place to visit with or without the kids. The squares are absolutely beautiful!
