Great historic site. Wish I had known about her when I was taking art courses in college. She may have been mentioned in the art history books, but barely. Beautiful studio! Helpful attendants.

An artistically independent woman before societies accepted such characteristics in a female. Abundantly talented and charismatic personality with a determined character...as she swayed many kings and dignitaries to sit long and numerous sittings for her to sculpt them. The castle is a treasure filled with her sculptures she created when she and her husband resided there beginning at the turn of the century.

Really nice museum, free to visit. Sculptures downstairs and the history of the home and area upstairs. Be sure to check out the decreed room on the 3rd floor and the extra gallery space on the first. There are sculptures around the property as well.
