In my opinion, Ernesto's has the best Mexican food in Howard County. The fajitas are our usual choice at the restaurant. We've tried them all -- steak, chicken, shrimp, veggie and a combo. Everything is grilled beautifully. The food comes out to your table wonderfully fresh and with a great aroma. The vegetables are cooked just right; not over cooked or under cooked.
There is one special dish that we have ordered a few times. It is flamed at table side and is a tower of shrimp, chicken and beef. I'm not sure of what it is called but just ask the waiter about the flaming tower, and they will know what you are talking about. I recommend sharing it with a friend or plan on bringing leftovers home.
Even the chips and salsa served when you are first seated are better than those at other Mexican restaurants. The prices are very reasonable especially given the quality and quantity of the food. Our usual choice, the combo fajitas (shrimp/chicken), are $16.99. You can also get them for two for about $28.00. We've tried other dishes and were always happy with our choices, but the fajitas are the best selection in my opinion.
Oh, did I forget to mention the margaritas. They are huge and very, very good. We brought a number of friends to the restaurant and everyone has loved it.

As good as the traditional, authetic Mexican and Tex-Mex food - and it is outstanding - the customer service is better! They opened in 2013 and have consistently beat the high expectations we all share when spending money to eat out. Terrific, neighborhood vibe & cool, laid back surroundings. Check 'em out! PS: the chili conquest is to die for. 😋

Fantastic fajitas. Tacos were phenom. Everything was top notch, and I don't usually go nuts over Mexican food.
Service was great, too. Loved it.

This was our first time eating at Ernesto's. We ordered the brisket tacos which were very good. Chips and salsa were excellent. The service was also very good as we ate a late dinner. We were craving fajitas so we ordered steak and chicken. Fajitas, I would suspect, are a pretty low bar for most Mexican restaurants. Ernesto's could have been so much better. Portions were quite large but our fajitas had been sitting in the kitchen for a little while. They did not come out sizzling as they typically do and the steak was way overdone. The re-fried beans were a bit bland. The tortillas were out of a bag which was disappointing. On the menu, handmade tortillas are available for certain items but not the fajitas. Please consider serving these with your fajitas. If we go back we will try other items on the menu. Fajitas we will eat at another establishment.
