Someone put the wrong address on my account when I moved 2 weeks ago. I got home from work at 10pm and had no power. When I called I was told that I had to wait until morning when it was “business hours” for it to be resolved. When I asked if I was just suppose to sit in the dark until the morning, her reply was “yep sorry”. Very rude and horrible service.

Eversource has the worst business practices that I have ever seen. I moved out in August and provided my move out date a couple weeks in advance. I paid the "final bill" online. I kept receiving bills in September which were all different amounts, so I called and they told me that I had a credit, didn't owe anything, and it would be mailed to me. Never got the check and kept receiving bills. I called again and this time she said that I owed over $130 so once they applied my credit, I still owed $58. She claimed I was receiving "estimated reads" all summer and they did the final read within a few days of me moving out. We disputed the charge because it's the end of October, they didn't call me to tell me about this issue, I was receiving bills of random amounts (never consistent), and the guy I talked to in September didn't mention the "final reads."
I called back today and they said all they could do was give me a $25 credit. After talking with them further, I found out that they didn't do the final read until September. We moved out August 4th! I said to her "so we're potentially being charged for another person's usage?" She said "yes, we don't come out and read the meter when people move in and out." WHAT!? She even had the gall to tell me that "if customers want to go out, read the meter, and provide us with those numbers, we would gladly accept that." Again, WHAT!? I don't think they would ever accept a reading from customer but That's Their JOB! However, let's assume they would've accepted the reading, I would've gladly done it if someone had asked or I had known that I was going to be charged for the first month of the next tenants stay.
So we were getting no where and I asked if the credit would be added to my bill. She said "yes, your current bill is $64..." WHAT!? Now my "final read" has changed again!!!?????? We've moved around a lot for my husband's job and never have I ever encountered such poor business practices. I've actually never had a problem with any billing service until today. I'm so glad I no longer live in MA, so I don't have to deal with this. I feel bad for those that do. We only lived in that apartment for 3 months. I can't imagine the amount someone else would have to pay back if they received estimated reads for a year or more. If we had the money, we would hire a lawyer. It would be an easy win for us and hopefully get eversource to change, but it would cost more to hire a lawyer than to pay the bill.
But now you know. Take your own meter readings and send them in so you don't get screwed over. According to the "senior rep" I spoke to, they'll take the readings you give them. Or take pictures of your readings with a time stamp on them so you have proof of your usage when they want to overcharge you.

No warning for turning off the power for the whole day. Were very rude when the group of residents after sitting with no electricity for 18 hours asked for a power generator(which they brought at 10pm only after starting at 7am), workers mocked us as well. The support was very too. Incompetent company, very low efficiency, rude. People have to work with them because the monopolised the whole region, so they allow themselves to completely ignore customers.
